Thanks for the pics - being out of town, the more the merrier!

It's great to see how the medical campus is filling in. UB has been really quiet about what happens next for them. They dropped the proposal to buy McCauley Gardens. Are they still planning more buildings? And where?

I'm not sure...I feel like you or someone else would have a little better idea than I ever would!

Ellicott Development is planning a 12-story building adjacent to the Buffalo Christian Center that will include a six-level, 350 car parking ramp, a 109-room, 12-story hotel, 28 market-rate apartments, an estimated 30,000 square feet of commercial office space and a restaurant. Road Less Traveled Productions, which occupies the Forbes Theater inside the building, will remain.

Sweet. Is this a sure thing? We'll take it.

It appears to be real- they already own the property.

A Look at Buffalo's Waterfront Regeneration

Quote:
Known today as Canalside, this waterfront district stood mostly abandoned and forgotten during the past few decades, after its canal network was filled in with gravel to make way for parking lots and paved streets, and the elevated Thruway was built in the mid 1950s. After a decade-long series of efforts led by the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation, the canals and vestiges of the long-gone neighbourhood began to be unearthed in 2005, and the first wave of regeneration was completed in 2008 thanks to a masterplan designed by architect Perkins Eastman.

I like the scale, glad it's 15 stories, but I question why the open space is oriented towards the concrete rear wall of NFTA headquarters?
Should it not be aligned towards the library and ellicott street?
I like the modernity.

Perhaps this would be a prime time for the NFTA to conduct a design competition
for artists to create a "cobblestone-like mural" on the north face of their headquarters.

Exclusive: Touring Downtown Buffalo's Newest Development

Quote:
Things are truly looking up — and going up — in The Queen City. According to Buffalo Rising, 54 downtown developments were completed, under construction, or proposed in 2015. One of the most significant is a 12-storey mixed-use project at the corner of Delaware and Chippewa Streets just a few blocks north of Buffalo's ornate Art Deco City Hall. The $80 million complex, built by Uniland Development Company, contains the global headquarters for Delaware North. Boasting over 200,000 square feet of Class A office space, a 120-room Westin hotel, ground floor retail, and an attached parking garage, 250 Delaware Avenue is the poster child for Buffalo's renaissance.

^nice article on 250 Delaware aka Delaware North Headquarters.
One error though: The total cost of the building is actually $113 Million, not 80M.

23-story, $60 million apartment tower proposed for Buffalo Outer Harbor

Quote:
A revised $60 million development plan for the former Freezer Queen warehouse on Buffalo’s waterfront requests the structure be demolished to make way for a 23-story apartment tower.

Final development plans are still coming together, but representatives for businessman Gerry Buchheit, who has owned the massive Fuhrmann Boulevard property since 2007, will be meeting with Buffalo leaders to advance the project. The Buffalo Planning Board is expected to hold a public hearing on the proposed project when it meets on April 4. The hearing will trigger a series of reviews, including those by the Buffalo Preservation Board and Zoning Board of Appeals, before the project can move to its construction phase.

“I hope we can start this by June,” Buchheit said. “Everyday I am getting more and more excited about the project.”

We all seem to have our doubts, but hopefully this thing will get built! Planning board meeting coming up. A June start would be awfully ambitious.
