Link for the agenda for the June meeting of the Riverview PAC:

http://www.townofriverview.ca/en/doi...Juneagenda.pdf

Nothing major here, the largest project is proposal for a very generic multi unit apartment development off of Woodstock Ave.

The T&T today confirms a rezoning appllication to allow for a McDonald's to be built adjacent to the Irving on Coverdale Rd.

Further to the above, once Mickey D's moves out of their current location in the PJC building, Jean Coutu will expand to take over the current McDonald's space.....

I like how the McDonalds spokesman would neither confirm nor deny, but the Jean Coutu spokesperson said that as soon as McDoanlds moves out, they're taking that space.

Riverview

There was word riverview was supposed to get an Ultra-Mar and Coffee shop near the old Riverview mall, long story short the land where it will be built has been officially sold. Here is a photo of the land prnt screened from google maps.

Also Riverview has a new facebook page promoting the Riverview Energy Centre it seems like an interesting venture but who knows if it will ever be built.

Quote:
Riverview Energy Centre
April 27 at 5:00am
Welcome to the Facebook home of the “Riverview Energy Centre”. We are a private development group that will deliver an innovative, mutli-use recreational facility to the residents of Riverview and surrounding areas. This project will contain two NHL-sized ice surfaces, sports performance centre, fitness club, gymnasium, walking/jogging track, daycare facility, retail spaces and much more.

The Riverview area is growing and the demographics are changing with more young families moving in. The “Riverview Energy Centre” will be a hub for our community that sparks a new wave of economic development and community pride.

In 2007, a formal study by Shift Central Inc. (a third-party “market intelligence” organization) built a strong case for the addition of more ice surfaces in the Riverview area. Since this study was presented, a grass roots movement has come together that includes many volunteers, community leaders and members of the wellness and sports communities. We have been working diligently behind the scenes over the past few years further building the case and planning. We have come to the point now where we'd like to bring you along to share our dream and be part of this vital project that has never been closer to reality!

An exciting fundraising campaign will be launched shortly and will welcome the input of potential users and the business community.

Tell us how we can make this an amazing facility that draws attention both locally, regionally and beyond!

Let’s do this Riverview.

It’s time to “Create Energy!”

I wonder if the proposed gas station/coffee shop would be something like the Ultramar/Second Cup on Dieppe Blvd.

You mentioned Ultramar as the likely gas vendor. We also know that Second Cup is interested in further expansion in the metro area. A fourth Second Cup as part of this proposal would make sense, especially given that there will be five Starbucks outlets in the city by the end of the year.

And the coffee wars continue.......

They are putting in 8, instead of the Original 4.

Delays in opening of new Riverview East School

RIVERVIEW,NB–A new school in Riverview will not be opening in September as planned.

The Anglophone East School District has been informed by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, that due to delays in construction, the work will not be completed by the expected date.

A new opening date has not been released, and will be announced later.

In the interim, Riverview East classes will be divided between Lower Coverdale School, Gunningsville School, and Riverview Middle School.

A letter from the school district will be sent out in August with class information, location and transportation details. Classes and teachers will remain the same when the students are eventually moved to the new school.

This is turning into a good year for growth in Riverview.

$3.9M in building permits were issued by the town during May for a YTD total (as of May) of $13.4M

Docbraces

I was driving by where they have a sign for Docbraces and a two story retail building in Riverview, the sign shows a design similar to the one on Mapleton, to make this story short, they have a huge excavator sitting on a truck out front of the lot, along with equipment for cutting tree's. This could be for the redevelopment of Pine glen, but fingers crossed its for the Docbraces building!

The proposal for this piece of land on the south side of Whitepine adjacent to Findlay Park has been changed somewhat since it was first presented to the Riverview PAC in April..

General Locator Map:

Site Overview:

The biggest change from the original proposal is that there is now a building on the east end of the development which will have 63 units and will have underground parking. Given the number of proposed units, I'm assuming this building will be four floors. The other four buildings in the complex are all two storey walk-ups.

Updated Render of the First Building (Building "B") to be Built:

This is still a generic two storey walk-up with large balconies, but it's not quite as bland looking as in the first render.......

According to the T&T today, the new tenants in the old Blockbusters space will be Wine Kitz and H&R Block.

I see that Goji's in Findlay Park is now open. Does anyone know how busy it is?

Also, there is a new foundation going in more or less across the road on the north side of Pinewood. Does anyone know what this will be? I imagine it will be a small professional office of some kind......
