The southwest corner would be the best spot for a sign, but even so there isn't really a good place for one there either. Also, the crown on this building is relatively bright at night which would almost overwhelm a sign anyway.

I saw it too on my drive home today and came here to post my quick phone pic that I took from my car. This is from South Lamar near the Barton Springs intersection. It is going to be huge.

I would assume they are just doing the "G" alone. One of their logos is just a colorful G. I doubt they are going to write out Google that large.

I don't recall the article, but I read Google's name was going up on the building. But that could have been confused for just their logo. All eyes on the lookout for an "O".

Man, if they do put the whole name up there it's going to be the biggest and brightest sign on the skyline. I'll be able to read it from my neighborhood. ha

That's up in the crown, though - the part that gets lit at night. I can't imagine a sign standing out much in that section of the facade. 500 West 2nd is fairly bright at night.

Man, that's disappointing. This sign could have been really cool. Reminds me of the Conde Nast building in new york, with their large iconic signs (though stangely, conde nast now offices in the WTC, and H&M has their sign on the building)

I'm glad it's just the G because it looks more like a corporate icon-like logo, akin to the Frost swirl, and less like a full corporate name. Far more tasteful.

Now let's get a Facebook " f " on top of Third and Shoal

Are we thinking that this G will be changing colors constantly? I'm kinda glad it's just a G. I think having brand names splashed across the tops of towers can be kinda gauche. I like this, though.

Yeah, I saw the colors this afternoon. I'm not sure if it's lit or not. I was actually downtown this afternoon/evening. I took a photo of it this afternoon, but then I forgot to check again this evening if it was lit, but I think it is. It seems to be lit - via the Indy cam, it's kind of hard to tell. The lights in the crown kind of drown it out here. I'm sure it looks better in person.
