This is supposed to create 1,500 new jobs once completed...that's no small accomplishment. That alone should have quite a ripple effect on the apartment/condo situation in greater center city. I can't wait to see this beast up and running.

This building has such presence; this building is a statement. I can only speak for myself but I haven't seen a building with this much presence on the Philadelphia skyline since 1987 when Liberty 1 was completely because this building isn't simply tall; it has mass.

I can only imagine what the presence of this building will be like when the cupola is added. I do wonder however; will the building have a crown or will it simply end with the glass going right against the roof.

I've really tried to like this tower but I just cant. Its so boxy and boring and looks a hell of a lot shorter than what it really is. Comcast Center is just so damn sexy, and this boring box plopped right next to it kinda ruins the skyline in my opinion.

Where I don't agree with not liking the building, I do agree it feels stubby/awkward because of how wide and tall the base is compared to the set-in portion at the top. I feel like it could have easily been designed to handle that transition more elegantly (someone in this thread mocked one up beautifully a while back) to not make it feel so bottom heavy. It looks much better from the west facing facade opposed to the east.

Obviously you cannot be pleased by someone else's opinion.

The CTC looks like a giant middle finger directed at those that find it aesthetically challenged.

That's...kind of reassuring?

What about the fact that it's 6 feet off plumb?*

I think you may have to see it in person. The external bracing facade, the materials, and the sheer mass of the thing may not translate in photos.

The facade materials are nice. Hopefully the exterior lighting will be great as well. My only gripe with this tower is the deep set back of the hotel portion. At the very least the deep setback will not be as noticeable when viewing the north and south elevations at a distance.
