Glad you noted this. I saw it yesterday too on my lunchtime walk. It made me wonder if there's not some sort of coordination between the two projects -- if only to get the creek bank terraformed into some sort of unified surface. The piles of dirt and areas being graded definitely seemed to running into one another.

Construction financing secured for Austin high-rise multi-housing development

DALLAS, Feb. 9, 2022– JLL Capital Markets announced today that it secured construction financing for The Travis, a 423-unit, high-rise multi-housing community located in the Rainey Street District of downtown Austin, Texas.

JLL worked on behalf of the borrower, Genesis Real Estate Group and PGIM Real Estate, to secure a construction loan through JPMorgan Chase.

With a projected completion of the fall 2024, the 50-story tower will be Austin’s tallest single-purpose, for-rent multi-housing high-rise, redefining Austin’s skyline and providing future residents top-tier accommodations and one-of-a-kind, unobstructed views of downtown and Lady Bird Lake.

That's still in play. There just aren't any updates about it which is not good IMO.

I mean, with the Travis 98 Red River seemingly being built simultaneously, there isn't really too much feasibility to build this during that time frame as well. So things might change in the next couple years, but I'm not confident we'll see anything until 2024 or so, when something could actually start the wheels moving towards construction.

The same is sort of true with the parking lot across from 98 Red River, which is the staging area for that construction. Even being owned by the same groups with the same developer, I doubt we'll see any plans there until 98RR is closer to being done.

I have been told by someone I trust that there is an active negotiation between 3 worksites in Rainey about crane configuration that are all right next to one another. I knew that 98 Red and Travis were 2 of them - but I don't know what the third is.

This is the person who told me The Travis was good to go a few months ago.

It kind of looks like the site prep that's going on is for both buildings. It might just be that it would be difficult to do site prep for them separately though.
