Fout Place to be rehabbed!!!

If this doesn't indicate a seachange in St. Louis I don't know what does. The long-abandoned and deteriorating Fout Place mansion at Cook and Whittier in north St. Louis has been purchased and the new owners plan a full renovation.

You can read about the history of Fout Place here:

CityFoundry names two lead office tenants: Multiply and Orion Genomics

http://www.stltoday.com/business/loc...377b7f6ab.html

Quote:
The $187 million CityFoundry STL development in Midtown has signed leases with two lead office tenants: digital publishing and technology firm Multiply and DNA tech company Orion Genomics.

Combined, the two companies will lease 30,000 square feet of space for almost 100 employees, CityFoundry's developer, The Lawrence Group, told the Post-Dispatch. Multiply, whose digital publications include HealthyWay, FashionBeans and Urbo, is currently based in University City. Orion Genomics is based in the Central West End.

The first phase of CityFoundry is slated to have 122,000 square feet of restaurant and entertainment space, 105,000 square feet of shops, and 111,000 square feet of office space. "We have several more office tenants that we expect to sign in the next 60 days that will completely fill up our Phase 1 office space," the Lawrence Group's CEO Steve Smith said.

Construction on the mixed-use CityFoundry project on the site of the former Century Electric industrial site last operated by Federal Mogul is slated to be completed in the second half of 2019. Other tenants previously announced for the development include Austin-based Alamo Drafthouse Theaters, Denver-based Punch Bowl Social and Tulsa-based Fassler Hall.

Brennan's will open second location, Brennan's Work & Leisure, in Midtown

https://www.saucemagazine.com/a/5767...rk-leisure-in-

Quote:
A Central West End fixture will soon have a presence in Midtown. Brennan’s owner Kevin Brennan will open Brennan’s Work & Leisure sometime this fall at 3015 Locust St., in the same block as Small Batch and The Fountain on Locust.

Brennan’s marketing and events manager Zach Gzehoviak said work is currently underway to refurbish the more than 100-year-old building, which began life as an automobile showroom when the area was known as Automobile Row.

The new place will serve coffee, tea and juice in the morning and sandwiches and salads for lunch. In the evening the space will transition to beer, wine and cocktails, plus small plates and some signature dishes from Brennan’s. Unlike the original Brennan’s, the new project won’t have a cigar component.
