Because the Americans splinter off into various discussion forums and there aren't many non-North Americans on SSP.

Because the Canada section is the de-facto Toronto section. We tried to move some of the discussion to a new Toronto Local but it never caught on.

also because most Toronto activity has been drawn off site to Urban Toronto, similar to Waterloo.

Maybe Canadians are more engaged with their country in terms of urban planning, development, architecture, the public realm.

^^That's why we're left with mostly fanboys (who often scorn UT)

I go to SSP's Canada section for info about all of Canada, SSC's Toronto Urban Issues section for skyline photos and UT for development news about Toronto.

Same with Montreal and Mtlurb. Pratically no action in the Mtl SSP section...

Admittedly I haven't looked much (I think this site was the first one I came upon when searching something years ago and I've never left), but it feels to me that for the Maritimes, this seems to be one of the main Urban discussion pages for the region. At least there is a lot of talk in general in the Atlantic Canada section, and we have proof that the local media keeps an eye on the discussions too.

The Hamilton section used to be busier, many users left and went to raisethehammer. I think the Ottawa section has about the same activity as Hamilton in the last couple years. I don't think there is an alternative Ottawa forum, but I could be wrong.
