Neiman Marcus' first Manhattan store and other shops in Hudson Yards delayed to 2019

If you're planning a visit to New York City next year to see the first Neiman Marcus store in Manhattan, you can delay that trip.
Related Companies, the developer of Hudson Yards, a huge 18-million-square-foot mostly office and residential project that is transforming the West Side of Manhattan, has pushed back the opening date of the Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards from late 2018 to early 2019.
That includes the center's anchor store, Neiman Marcus. Karen Katz, CEO of the Dallas-based retailer, told analysts on a conference call as recently as June that the store was still "on track" for a late 2018 opening.
But the entire project's schedule has been reviewed in recent months, Related said in response to questions about when Neiman Marcus will open.
"As we moved towards the opening dates for our largest commercial office tower, 30 Hudson Yards, the first residential building, 15 Hudson Yards, and 35 Hudson Yards which contains the first Equinox Hotel, we have refined the timing of the opening of The Shops & Restaurants to early 2019 to further align with those occupancies," Related's spokeswoman Joanna Rose said in an emailed response.
The new date is "ensuring a broad customer base and that the full collection of restaurants and retailers will all open at the same time," Rose said.
.....Last year, Related released a partial list of stores that will also be in the vertical mall: AG Jeans by Adriano Goldschmied, Aritzia, Athleta, Banana Republic, The Body Shop, Coach, H&M, Jo Malone, Kiehl's, Lululemon, MAC, NYX, Origins, Patek Philippe, Rolex, Sephora, Stuart Weitzman, Tory Burch, Urban Decay, Watches of Switzerland and Zara.
Neiman Marcus hasn't said how much the Hudson Yards store will cost it, but Related is probably contributing a big share.
Nordstrom is reportedly spending $500 million to build its first Manhattan store in two locations. A smaller 47,000-square-foot men's store is scheduled to open in March. The larger 320,000-square-foot main store is now planned for fall 2019.
Nordstrom's main store will be at 225 West 57th Street in the several levels at the base of Extell Development Co.'s Central Park Tower
