In extreme weather they tend not to pour, but I think the limiting factor is is more worker safety and comfort than the concrete not setting properly. Concrete hardening is actually a exothermic calcification reaction and therefore creates quite a bit of its own heat. I think they run into more problems in extreme heat where they actually have to douse the concrete with water for days afterwards to keep it cool enough for the reaction to continue evenly.

Would a pour of this size typically take 5 or 6 hours?

Or longer.

Thanks for the article. It was neat reading all the info on self consolidating concrete (SSC) that was used for the pour at the Trump Tower.

I assume that the Vista Tower will also use SSC?

Or perhaps they have developed an even better concrete between 2005 and now?

See any of you out there tomorrow AM? I'll be there around 8. And will look like this most likely.

Wish I could go. Best of luck everyone and thanks for toughing the elements. Bring a jug of cocoa with maybe a little something extra in there to keep you warm and toasty. Haha.

The show is starting. 6 concrete trucks, 3 hose cranes (is that what they are called?)

Also, if anyone is passing by, bkl has a model in their window for a Mich Ave proposal. Is it ok to post it if it hasn't been officially announced?

Where is the best place to watch this from? Any easily accessible elevated vantage points? Looking forward to seeing this for a bit today!

Mobile concrete pumps, I only see two of them, where's the third?

Also uhhh yeah you can post that, does anyone here hesitate to post information before it has been formally announced? Lol.

Crazy how thin each of the sections will be, I don't think and of the renderings really illustrated that point well.
