Let's not forget the previous $1Billion+ St. Jude's just dropped for 3 or 4 mid-rise towers & data center and the quarter-billion dollar Bass Pro Shop @ The Pyramid. Any takers on the Sterick Building or 969 Madison Ave.?

Pretty awesome and I'm excited for more info/renderings to come out.

Want to see some action moving on the Pinch also, hopefully some new info will come out soon.

Posted this update a few pages back. These concept renderings really highlight my previous point that a few projects together have become one massive contiguous redevelopment of the north end that's 1 and half miles long from Court Ave. to Henry Ave.. Billions of dollars of construction flowing in seemingly at the same time. Not to mention, Hotel Indigo & The Commonwealth redevelopments on the same block with the Sterick Building just to the south.

A pinch of transformation: Institutions work together to reimagine the historic Pinch District
Andy Meek | High Ground News

Quote:
Part of the hold-up on the redevelopment of the Pinch, explained Mary Clare Borys, the City of Memphis Housing and Community Development’s project manager for The Pinch, has to do with working needing to be done on upgrading utilities in the area. The state of Tennessee approved $12 million that will complement $25 million from the city to improve the Pinch district infrastructure... As the city, state and St. Jude step up to help with the utility and infrastructure improvements, they pave the way for the development of one of Memphis' oldest areas. “St. Jude is the catalyst,” for transforming the Pinch and helping write its next chapter, according to Downtown Memphis Commission president Jennifer Oswalt.

Sound System Upgrade, Locker Room Improvements Highlight Renovations to Liberty Bowl
Special to the Daily News/ Memphis Daily News

Quote:
The City Council approved the $2.5 million renovations in May... Past renovations include a an upgraded video board, new playing surface, chairback seats and the continued development of Tiger Lane. The new sound system falls in line with that initiative – the JBL Variable Line Array system is commonly used in major football venues across the country. Strickland tweeted “we worked with Daktronics to design a sound system specifically for the unique shape of Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.” According to a release, the new locker room provides nearly 6,000 additional square feet of space. There are 105 lockers with LED Monitors and full data connectivity. A new coaches’ room will come along with a new training room providing direct access to the Liberty Bowl field.

USL Memphis to Begin Play in 2019
By Zach Spedden/ Soccer Stadium Digest

Quote:
“When I first visited AutoZone Park before purchasing the Redbirds, I immediately recognized the potential for it to be home to more than one professional sports team,” Freund said in a statement. “We will build an entirely separate organization focused on providing an authentic soccer experience similar to what Yankee Stadium, home to the New York City Football Club, has been able to achieve at the MLS level.” “AutoZone Park is a big part of the fabric of the city and is the setting for so many memories for people each year, and now, we are going to be able to invite even more people to experience the excitement,” Unger said in a statement. “The stadium will now be buzzing every weekend from March through September.” Branding for the USL Memphis club is expected to be revealed at a later date.

Memphis' new digital newspaper to occupy Downtown office building
By Jacob Steimer – Reporter, Memphis Business Journal

Quote:
The Crane Co. Building is located about a block north of AutoZone Park and a block east of the Daily News' current offices. It contains 54,000 square feet and was recently renovated by a couple from Montreal, Canada. Its fifth floor is still available for lease, Cutler said. Montreal-based Jefferson Court Properties Inc. purchased the historic Crane Co. Building at 254 Court Ave. in June and is renovating it into Class A office space.

Stationery company moves to former bakery in the Edge District
MICHAEL WADDELL | High Ground News

Quote:
At 12,000 square feet, the new space at 647 Madison Avenue will be twice as large as the space on Broad Avenue. Approximately half will be used for warehouse purposes, and the other half will be administrative and production space... The former Camp Building at 647 Madison, which shares a contiguous wall with Sam Phillips Recording Studio, was built it 1945 and originally housed a bakery until the mid-1960s. In fact, the design of the front of the building was louvered open to deflect heat from the building. Adams purchased the building earlier this year for $350,000, and the total project cost is expected to be up to $1.5 million. To help with renovation costs, Adams received an exterior improvements grant from the Downtown Memphis Commission.

Colonial Country Club Submits Request for Redevelopment of a Larger Tract
The Daily News

Quote:
The developers estimate they will spend $300 million, including $75 million in the first phase alone... The newest plan calls for 540 single-family residences on more acreage -- 118 acres. It also calls for a reduction of apartments to 250 units, a reduction of senior-living apartments to 310 units, 9 acres of office park, 16 acres for retail and restaurants, 5 acres for what would be the only full-service hotel east of the Hilton, and millions of dollars in upgrades for the project’s anchor, Colonial Country Club and its championship South Course.

First detailed rendering I've seen of the residential component. Also, more mention of "Phase II" being a class A office tower up to 400,000 square feet.

$225M One Beale riverfront development to open with hotel, apartments, dining
MICHAEL WADDELL | High Ground News

Quote:
The $130 million first phase will include a 227-room Hyatt Centric hotel, 227 apartments, two signature restaurants with riverfront views, retail space, and a 475-spot parking garage. The second phase will include the development of 200,000 to 400,000 square feet of Class A office... The hotel was separated from the multifamily units to make way for an office tower, which will be developed as part of Phase 2 by Highwoods Properties. Plans call for 200,000 to 400,000 square feet of Class A office space... Highwood Properties will develop the office building in the second phase, and the developer is working with the Memphis Chamber of Commerce and Carlisle to secure an anchor tenant.

By the looks of it, the main Street Mall clock area will be demolished, but the design of the convention center tower itself looks good, now just waiting to see the office portion of the project if they still plan too

I doubt they will remove the clock tower since the trolley tracks run parallel to the hotel site (trolleys are not shown in the renderings), and since these are preliminary designs, some adjustments will have to be made along the way.

Memphis rising: Can this Mid-South city of 670,000 become the next Austin?
ROBERT CASSIDY, EXECUTIVE EDITOR/ Building Design + Construction

Quote:
Now, Memphians are feeling a fresh wind blowing off the Mississippi, invigorating them with the possibility of a much brighter future. The trio of redevelopments presented here—Crosstown Concourse, Tennessee Brewery, and The Chisca on Main—is indicative of the 250 projects, valued at $13 billion (according to Cushman & Wakefield), that have reenergized Memphis in the last four years.

Germantown Road... “Construction just got underway earlier this month, and the $43 million project is expected to be ready for occupancy by the end of the third quarter or start of the fourth quarter next year,”...
