1600-1658 Hyde Park Road - two 8s mixed use buildings (Under Construction)

More Info about the project can be found at this link

Interesting development proposed for Hyde Park Road at Gainsborough Road.

A sea of parking in the rear of the lot, but its well hidden from the road by buildings.

Great to see the developer incorporating the existing heritage home into the overall design too!

This is big change from the previous plan which was a 2 story retail/office plaza on the corner. Twin 12s towers plus retail/commercial.

Yet another major change to this proposal. Now an 8 floor apartment and 6 floor.

Downsized in a big way

Also not taking up that whole block anymore either. Basically taking up the school bus yard, but not the plaza and old house on the corner at the north end of the property. Quite disappointing.

Looks less ambitious to me, still great development though.

how many times is this project going to be altered? I live very nearby and there have been so many different plans submitted, but most of the site is still an ugly parking lot.

The corner lot is partially fenced off with construction fencing and they have been doing some digging. Nothing deep yet, looks more like stripping away the top layer of ground.

Looks like site prep is definitely starting with what looks like utilities being installed along west side of lot. Hopefully one additional thing that comes out of this project is Gainsborough rd gets rebuilt west of Hyde Park to at least the cemetery entrance. The current road is falling apart.

Looks like excavation is starting on the pit in the NE corner for phase 1.

Mobile crane on site now. Might be working on tower crane base foundation. Still looks like alot of excavation left to do. Not sure if the plan is for 2 levels or 1 level of underground parking.

They have made some small progress on pouring footings on SE side of lot. Still no signs of a tower crane being prepped for. Fortis group signs up on fencing. - https://fortisgroup.ca/
