Blech, suit doesn't fit at all (but heartbreakingly, the fabric looks great), Indochino's supposed to reimburse adjustments to make it right, does anyone on the forum recommend a good tailor in Ottawa? (downtown or the west side)

Three Ottawa Targets to open in 2013

Three Ottawa Targets to open in 2013

Published on May 25, 2012
OBJ Staff

Target Corp. says three Ottawa stores are among those that it will open in a larger round of locations in March or April 2013.

Boulevard Centre II, Meadowlands Shopping Centre and Hazeldean Mall are the Ottawa locations that will open Targets at that time.

In late March, Target also disclosed a location in Gatineau, at Les Galeries Gatineau, will open in fall 2013.

The U.S. department store retailer acquired 189 Zellers sites across the country and plans to convert between 125 and 135 of those into Targets.

Target recently reported its first-quarter profit increased 1.2 per cent to $697 million. It also raised its forecast for the fiscal year because of better sales prospects in food and fashions.

Three other locations slated to open in the region – Bayshore Shopping Centre, Place D'Orleans and RioCan St. Laurent – have not yet released opening dates.

If so, it's getting double counted, because the Rio Can St Laurent location is ID'd at the end of the article as one of the ones with opening dates TBC.

So that leaves the following with unknown status:

Sparks Street (will close, for lease)

Billings Bridge Plaza (guessing will close and be redeveloped or demolished - likely future redevelopment conflicts)

Gloucester Centre/City Park (not sure? thought it would convert, but maybe they have a redevelopment plan there? although they built big box stores nearby in the late 1990s)

Bells Corners (guessing will close - too close to Bayshore, not sure who could pick up the lease?)

Galeries Aylmer (not sure? seemed like a good conversion candidate)

Place Cartier (lease picked up by Walmart it appears)

I drove by here about 3 weeks ago and there was a large sign out front on Ogilive that said the Zellers was closing and everything was discounted. So I'm guessing it will not become a Target!

If it weren't for the fact that big box stores proliferated there 15 years ago or so, that would be a prime area for high-level TOD!

Fairweather at Rideau Centre closing

One of the stores I hate the most in any mall is Fairweather. They usually take up the largest spaces outside of department stores and their stuff is cheap. I see the Fairweather in Rideau Centre is having a "Lease Expiry Sale" which I assume means they're closing down. It'll be interesting to see who'll take over such a large space. They could fit a good sized tenant in there.

Ugh. I hate Fairweather. It ceased to be relevant years ago. At the St Laurent location, it has had a "store closing" sign since November 2011. And yet, 6 months later, it's still in business!!

Indeed, whether Zellers is closing or being renovated into a Target, all the current merchandise will be discounted/liquidated as that merchandise is owned by Zellers and not Target, who owns just the lease. So maybe the Gloucester Centre location will actually be converted to Target after Zellers closes.

I vaguely remember hearing that Wal-Mart scooped that one up.
