I was in Montreal a couple weeks ago and noticed this building. I wish the Dillon did something at least similar to this if they were going to just leave the wall blank, I find it makes it look a lot better.

I think the one is Montreal is that way because the back lot will be developed in the future.

That's exactly the case with the Dillon, too. It's anticipated that the surrounding property will be redeveloped in the not-too-distant future. The point is that something cheap but visually appealing/interesting could have been done in this case, too, instead of a glaring plain red wall on 2 sides of the building.

Lol. I thought at first this was one of those "save the view" doom and gloom renderings!

They are working on the main floor retail space now. Enlarging the windows and such.

The concrete for the balconies has been painted and the scaffolding has come down on the old facade.

I love the way this building looks and how it preserves and incorporates a heritage building and how its modern design fits in with the Nova Centre. And how it contributes to the evolving dynamic of Sackville.
Looks like the top 2 floors will have the same cladding as the rest of the medium-rise. That's not very Halifaxy!

If there any buyers looking at this site, please contact your lawyer's office. I have received a letter stating the development will not be registered as a condo and my deposit will be refunded.

It's funny hearing the compliments of this building, I wish I had grab the shot from Pizza Corner I seen today.
From the front and one side this project looks amazing, the other half is a disaster...
Jono, if you're out and about with your camera could you grab a shot from Grafton st. and post it here?

I try to avoid that angle but if I remember I will grab one.

Wow. That sucks. Same thing happened to me with Monaghan. Not much you can do about it. Weird because the units were almost sold out and they are almost done construction. Unless they need more money and the bank is refusing unless switch to apartments? But with the building almost 80% sold that wouldn’t make sense. Weird.

http://www.condonova.ca/blog/halifax...rts-apartments

In the case of Monaghan it was also delayed over a year (my original closing date was Nov 2017 and the second tower is still just concrete framing). But that situation was pretty simple... they didn’t sell. Like... at all. A lot of the studios got snapped up but everything else was virtually unsold. My guess is that Monaghan only sold about 10-15% of the units before they switched to apartments because they needed bank financing to continue construction.

The protective paper has come off of the cladding on the diagonal facade facing down Sackville.
