Actually the Gold Line Foothill extension is scheduled to be completed by then so one will be able to from Santa Monica to Azusa.
If LA MTA keeps it up, the critics who oppose high speed rail because LA has no feeder system of local rail are going to have to find a new excuse to oppose this.

Cool to see the brand new line. Thanks for sharing. Those cardboard models are a fun idea.

I couldn't be happier to see a new line opening up in Los Angeles! Thanks for the photos, and hopefully there will be plenty of more grand opening photos for the new rail lines as they are put into place over the next few years!

Aaron (Glowrock)

BTW: It's true, the Blue Line opened up way before Staples Center did, therefore there isn't a stop in front of there. The Pico stop was definitely placed where it was for the Convention Center.

Just curious. And also that would mean your great photothreads would be of L.A., which is always good.

Congrats LA on taking another step in the right direction. The line looks great. It'll take a lot more work to transform the city into a true transit-oriented polycenric metropolis, but the important thing is that there is funding and there is slow but steady progress.

Nice photos! And congrats to the new extension and those to be built. If only the transit extensions needed in the Bay Area would move as quick.

i think if it is eventually trenched and covered (which i think it will), a portal can be built next to LA Live.

The important thing to me is that the funding was approved by a super majority of the public in the form of a sales tax. The funding is in place because it is the will of a vast majority of the city and they are willing to pay for it. Makes me very optimistic.

The West Side and Beverly Hills seem to be on board with the rail lines now, now that they realize their domestic help will have an easier time to get to work and not have to park their cars there.

^ We'll see. The cronies at BHUSD and BH City hall have, to some degree, succeeded in twisting the minds of Beverly Hills residents into opposing Metro's planned location of the Century City station. They want SaMo Blvd/AotS chosen instead of Constellation/AotS (which has been favored by Metro). This makes ZERO sense, and they have come up with the most asinine of reasons why they believe SaMo is better, when all studies have shown to the contrary.

I hate how people assume that only the poor will use the rail lines. Hell, I'm certainly not a 'domestic' and I can't wait until Metro hits my neighborhood. Same with many other people I know.
