What does the K in K-Days stand for?

The organiser of K-Days just yesterday announced that the K is not specifically limited to Klondike, but to anything anybody wants it to be. So if it is not Klondike, what does the K in K-Days stand for?

I was kinda hoping for some historical relevance for myself. Klondike is anachronistic but what other themes are there? I personally was hooked on calling it Trapper Madness (an allusion to the hunt for the Mad Trapper, which Edmonton was involved in with Wop May using Edmonton for his base and an allusion to the fur trade.) Anything along those lines?

Would it be a bad idea to use Keewatin Days? Keewatin is a Cree word meaning "North Wind." It is also a key concept in the Wihtigo folklore, which the Mad Trapper story in a way could be described. More importantly, it is a homage to the Cree-English-French relationship in the fur-trade days and also an allusion to the Gateway to the North concept in which we flew north instead of rode north.

So what are your thoughts?

IMO Northlands has again watered down this great fair by doing a half ass job on picking the abbreviated name and now limited (Klondike Days) events! For the life of me I can't understand their marketing strategy! Also the way they have drawn up the art work for the advertising is weak the way I see it!

K stands for

"Kind of screwed up idea"

Either you go completely with the Klondike Days Theme again or scrap the Kdays designation. It does not make sense.

Maybe it stands for Ketamine.... which is what you would have to be on to think this is a good idea. It's Klondike Days, dudes, just embrace our history and go with it.

They seem to have spent more time and energy focused on the name than on keeping the event relevant and raising a dwindling attendance. If they think that throwing those stuck in the "Klondike" (our connection to which has always been tenuous at best) a bone with the name "K-Days" is going to save them, then they deserve to fail.

Exactly.

K-Days might be the abbreviation, but it STILL, should and I bet will stand for Klondike days.

How many more focus groups, marketing plans and litmus tests do we have to do to return to what it was originally. Don't use the name to 'innovate' or 'keep current', use the programming and or yearly shifts on other partial themes.

the "k" in k - it stands for whatever you want - days stands for silly.

i was never a klondike days "fan" but it was what it was and could have been better, particularly at the end, and i hated "cap-ex" but to trade it for nothing? what kind if branding is "whatever you want"? to me it sounds like they held a contest for a new name and were then stuck with the winner and didn't really like it and then... oh wait, that's not what it sounds like, that's what really happened.

When you water something down to attempt to make it all inclusive your left with something bland and generic that nobody feels any connection to.
