Unfortunately that is the opinion of many Winnipegers, unless things change I am betting Winnipegers are going to wait very patiently for affordable and reliable electric cars to roll out the assembly line

This type of advertising is shameful, disgusting, and unbelievable, not to mention it may violate ad regs by portraying transit users as "creeps and wierdos". That they still have the audacity to barf-out "looser cruiser" ads against public transit proves how desperate domestic car companies are to hock their cheap, crappy wares. Its a dying industry, and it'll be interesting to see how low they can sink.

Indeed. It only costs me about 800$ a year to ride transit, but just to buy that car alone would be a 13,000$ investment which, as soon as you start driving, devalues by about 20%, then devalues at a good 5% per year until about 10 years later when the piece of shit dies. Very affordable.

^Well if you bought some land and built a house around the car, it would actually increase in value. Think Vid, THINK !

But then you have to pay for the house! You don't even own either until you finish making the payments so you're essentially in debt to someone for decades.

Hmmm...that's a good point. Let me think here....wait....yes...YES !
Buy the car. Drive it into somebody's living room. Plant your flag and announce the birth of Vidtopia into the community of nations. If the owners are still alive, you now have a car to chase them around the house with. They'll leave eventually.

See, these are things the prudent investor has to think about.

Is that a real advertisement?

If so, a nice example of the pot calling the kettle black ...

"Affordable Alternative?" OH THE IRONY!!!!

Any big 3, generic 4 cylinder cars made in North America have been POS cars since... ever!

That ad was bad taste if you ask me.

The monthly payment is two and a half times more than a monthly pass here, and the down payment is $1000 more than the down payment to ride transit. The price of the car is 16 years worth of bus passes. The car will probably die after ten.

And the price of the bus pass is probably 27 times the price of a used tricycle...I don't see your point. You're obviously getting almost infinitely more flexibility out of a car (also, a car doesn't transport only one person, like a bus pass does.)

Well I am just one person. If I had a car, it would be 75% empty 100% of the time. That's a waste of money, in my opinion. Flexibility isn't an issue, my city is small and I have a bike. I can get a week's worth of groceries on the bus or bike without any major difficulty, and being smart and logical as I am, I can plan my daily trips to work with the bus schedule, and I have no problem with that.

Excellent, although I suspect that if you acquired a car you'd also acquire enough friends and hangers-on to fill the remaining 75% of its capacity. I also don't have a car, so I'm not disagreeing with you. It's just that most other people have different circumstances and priorities that make taking buses everywhere significantly less than optimal.

Really? Thank you for opening my eyes to otherpeoplehavedifferentsituationsthanI. Here is another useful nugget: some people are innovative, and others aren't. Wow! That two types of people can exist just blows my mind.

Next you'll be telling me that some people are able to drive vehicles that fly! WHOAA!!
