Marriott loves Calgary and in particular, The Beltline. This is their third hotel for the Beltline.

Seems interesting that we are getting two (Club Sport & Residences) Marroitt hotels built (in DP stage). I have noticed a lot of Marriott Hotels going up around the globe. Montreal, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Erbil (kurdistan) to name a few. Looks like Marriott is putting in a big push to be the number one hotel chain as I see they are building a lot more than Hilton, Hyatt or Sheraton.

If not to be tops in the globe, definitely tops in Calgary!

I've heard that this one is still very much alive, so I thought I'd wake up the thread after a long hiatus. Anyone have any concrete information they can share?

Also, found a higher res render of the street level.

According to their release in late 2013, they were planning to start construction this year. I wonder if that is still the case?

Remediation work now going on at the site! Looks like I'm not crazy after all!

Well at least not in this case

I am glad you are not crazy regarding this point !

I am hoping that a hotel on the South side of the tracks will help bring more commercial towers into the mix.

This one is one of my most anticipated projects. This and Place 10 would do great things for development immediately south of the tracks. Combined with the other developments on 10th ave it is great for the city.

Absolutely. Hoping that the WAM development on 9th Ave and the Parking Authority Parkade/Retail goes ahead soon too, along with the rumoured Stadium District on the Railtown lands. All of that with the currently UC projects, that would kill nearly half the lots along the tracks in the downtown area.

This site is now fenced off. It looks like both towers are a-go at ~120 and 117 meters. Wow!

^They did apply for a building permit recently, so that could very much be the case.

Most of the foundation is gone now. It will be nice since this stretch has been a dead zone for so long.
