^ Looks like that was pretty fun. I miss biking to work, especially after just missing a bus this morning (you'd think out of a bus that's 2/3rds full, at least one person would mention to the driver that there's someone running up to the bus just as he's closing the door...).

Thinking a fat tire would be just the thing for next winter.

Even though I had a parka on, carrying my cameras I still found it quite fun.

I have been MTBing since the early days in 81-82 when it was rigid steel frames. I have had/ and raced every type since. I can say this was quite fun. Will I buy one.......maybe but I have another Cycle Cross bike to get first.

For those who are unsure if they would like fat biking, you can rent fatbikes for the day at revolution cycle for 69$. Best deal is to rent on Saturday morning, and since they're closed sunday, you keep the bike till Monday for the same cost.

Cranky's in St Albert lends them out as well. There will also be some available at the next race if you want to try them.

I will be trying one during a night ride tomorrow night, out to Lois Hole Park.

^ Thanks for the tips, guys. Fatbiking really seems to have exploded in popularity the last couple of years, but looking into them they are surprisingly reasonably priced (found some highly rated ones for under $3k). I think I will put away some money to get one for next winter.

Bell tower has aged relatively nicely. Wish Epcor had just two stand-out spires but overall I like it.
Thanks for the pics.

Was treated to a tour of the Central Masonic Hall last week. Very interesting building.

The building has absolutely no structural issues, they've maintained it very well. Everything inside is original from 1930.

Spade and trowels from sod turning ceremony

Main hall:

Original hand drawn and lettered south elevation by architect William Blakey

And of course, the boiler!

No secret passages in the building?

Looks like a pretty cool building. I honestly had no idea there was one in Edmonton. Shows how much I pay attention!

Been following all the post on this from the HOBOS. Would have like to be there but. Great shots and interesting to see the old boiler still in use. Would have like to find the old coal shoot.

You didn't get a tour of the celestial room?

Nice shots though, definitely one of my favourite buildings downtown.

That is precisely the key to preserving our heritage buildings, owners who give enough of a shit to put the time and money into their maintenance.

^^ We had basically free run of the place. Is the 'Celestial Room' what we were all calling the 'Blue Room'?
