I posted this in the Riverline thread, but "Building D" at 27 stories and 452 units was issued a permit yesterday for 720 S Wells for its foundation, which is essentially Wells & Polk.

It's not.

CIM didn't drop that kind of money without a plan in hand. Like all developers in the city though you've got to kiss the requisite rings and get it blessed before introducing it.

CIM only bought Block 37 in 2012, and since then has managed to land new tenants, open the theater and food court, and build the apartment tower.

Anyone care to speculate what they might do with the site? I would guess hotel+residential, and maybe some office space?

I would like to see hotel + residential + office. At that location all three are pretty much guaranteed to be successful.
