I've been lurking since 2007 and finally decided to join. Didn't think it was necessary to post here but why the hell not.

A Vancouverite in Paris

I'm a second-generation Vancouverite, living in Paris, where I've been for over nine years now. Other cities I have lived and worked in include London for one year (a long time ago), Montreal, Toronto, Tokyo, and Seoul.

I've travelled a bit through the United States and Europe, seen some splendid urban sights, and wished that Vancouver could learn from them, and become more cosmopolitan - which it is gradually doing.

I guess I have one foot overseas, psychologically speaking, and one foot still in the city where I was raised. I love Vancouver, and wish, like everyone, to see it develop its full potential, which is vast, and unearthly beautiful, despite the usual problems of urban crime and exhorbitant housing costs, common to all cities.

This forum gives a wonderful opportunity not only for sharing ideas, but "sparking" new ones. It is a creative crucible and a wonderful communicating tool.

I hope that together we can enhance and augment Vancouver's assets in every sense, and make it one of the "MUST VISIT" cities of the world.

It can happen, with respect, co-operation, common goals and visions forged, and communication between members.

Hello SSP:Vancouver forumers. I've been lurking for about one and a half years, and I registered an account a while ago. I actually forgot I had an account, until I checked my email archives and found a confirmation email for this account.

I've had a few conversations on Wikipedia with a few of you, like Allan Kuan and Deasine.

I've been lurking for years, mostly in the photo galleries, but I figure it's time to introduce myself.

Hello, I'm Robyn.

I'm a born and raised Steveston gal - 4th generation, really. Parents were born and raised in Richmond - all my grandparents (and half of my great-grandparents) all either grew up or settled in the Steveston/Richmond area. I literally have all my extended family in the Lower Mainland, so it's definitely given me a unique perspective of life around here, especially being able to see how much has changed over the generations.

I'm now living in Yaletown in a shoebox and have been there for 5 years. Studied geography, BC history, and art history (architecture) at UBC for 5 years. Fantasized about becoming an architect but never pursued it.

Needless to say, Skyscraperpage kind of ticks a lot of boxess for me.

@Robynobotica...are you 'BC Robyn' on flickr? If so, I'm one of your contacts. Will be cool to see some of your photos here as well. They're great!

Hi Everyone,

I am a north shore native, living in Gastown. I did my first degree in Geography at UVic and my second degree in Urban Studies at SFU.

I am a professional planner working out in the Valley, so have been using this forum to keep in touch with some real "city" building, rather than the "suburb" building I am involved with day to day. (Not that it is all bad, its just nice to be reminded about how good it can be, it keeps me inspired to keep pushing for better out here).

I also made the mistake fo challanging the subway-to-UBC mafia in one of my first thread exchanges and my eyes are now bleeding.

Cheers,

Hi guys, I created an account a little while ago, but used it mainly for lurking and viewing. then I sort of forgot about it, until one day I followed a link back to here from another website. I love reading up about anything Vancouver related. Anyways, I thought i'd just stop in and say hi.

Hey! I'm new!

Hi! I'm a 19-year-old Surreyite-in-denial, moved here from Ontario a few years ago and hoping to move north of the Fraser as soon as reasonably possible. Lurked here for a couple months, thought I'd sign up for an account so I can share my complete ignorance with you all. Looks like an awesome site, and I love reading up on all the new developments around here.

Welcome, one and all... I mean that.

This thread prompted me to find out how long I've been here.

Apparently, there are 215 users active in the last 6 mos. who have been here longer.

Now that I'm getting all nostalgic... I remember when hotmail wasn't owned by Microsoft. I had an account. It was a cool name. I lost the password.

I think fever, officedweller, Jared and Delirium have been here the longest. I was the part of the second wave of forumers that joined in 2002.

Almost eight years. Man, how times flies.
