Yes, it is. Akridge, Western Development and Orr Partners are redeveloping the building, now called River Point, into 470+ residential units.

For those interested, here's the link to the CBGBC construction webcam for River Point: https://app.oxblue.com/open/cbgbc

In the top photo, the redevelopment of the former Coast Guard HQ building is depicted on the right. However, on the far left is a completely different project, that being Capital City Real Estate's eight story condo development, Peninsula 88.

In total, WDCEP estimates approximately 6,000 units will break ground in 2018. It is projected that 7,431 residential units will deliver in 2018 and 7,693 units in 2019. These figures are strictly for DC proper. The "under construction" wording in the report, referenced above verbatim, likely means in some stage of development, rather than actual construction with shovels in the dirt, etc.
Looking again at the "under construction" unit numbers in the WDCEP report, indeed 15,600 residential units were actually under construction in DC as of August 2018. Although it's a little unclear, it appears another 4,300 units, which recently broke ground around the time of the report, were not included in the 15,600 figure.

This is the backside of the former General Services Administration building at 1900 Half Street, SW, which is being redeveloped by Douglas Development into 419 apartments. Digging down on Google Streetview for the 1800 block of Half Street, SW, the same squat row of buildings is viewable in the foreground.

This is being squeezed into the north side of the 1300 block. I believe this will contain micro units:

dlg569-- thank you for posting. My friends and I went to the condo party for the units at the Fragers development earlier this year. They are very impressive.

Southwest

The DC Housing Authority recently issued a Request for Proposal for a developer to redevelop the Greenleaf affordable housing in Southwest. Greenleaf is a very large affordable housing development with nearly 500 affordable housing units. These two-story residences were built in the 1950s and there are various sanitary and maintenance issues with them, along with public safety concerns. Greenleaf is located near the Wharf, Buzzard Point and the Capitol Riverfront/Navy Yard neighborhood, which are all experiencing significant growth.

Here is Councilmember Charles Allen's statement on this.

Glover Park

This is good news for Glover Park. Glover Park is a very nice neighborhood but its commercial strip has seen a number of vacant stores and the loss of the Whole Foods in recent years.

"A 30-year-old developer has grown his company with increasingly large projects across D.C., and now he is taking on his biggest one yet.

Coba Properties CEO Jay Gross tells Bisnow he is planning a 30- to 40-unit project with ground-floor retail at 2208 Wisconsin Ave. NW in Glover Park. The project would be built on the site currently occupied by Georgetown Carpet, consisting of four adjacent parcels near the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and W Place. The company, using the entity 2208 Wisconsin Ave NW LLC, acquired the parcels Jan. 16 for $6M..."

L'Enfant Plaza

We went to the opening of the new Spy Museum yesterday, which is a beautiful building and an interesting museum. Next to the museum, these trees and benches were installed in the median of the 12th Street promenade. This is a nice improvement for L'Enfant Plaza, which has long been a barren concrete waste.

The owner of the retail building at 1214-1216 Bladensburg Road NE, along with contract purchaser Better Living Development, has plans in the works to replace the structure with a 41-unit residential building.

The new development will be four stories with habitable cellar and penthouse levels. Five of the units will be set aside as inclusionary zoning.

Amazon reveals development plans for HQ2

By Daniel J. Sernovitz – Staff Reporter, Washington Business Journal
May 16, 2019, 10:53am EDT Updated 36 minutes ago

There don't appear to be any spheres or other iconic architectural statements, not even the company's familiar logo, but Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) and its development team submitted plans Wednesday for the first new buildings at its second headquarters in Arlington County.

The Seattle company's plans call for a pair of 22-story buildings combining for about 2.1 million square feet at Metropolitan Park on Eads Street. The structures, with 67,116 square feet of ground-floor uses including retail, would be developed above a below-grade parking structure with 1,968 parking spaces, per the submission.

The project also calls for a "significant amount of new public open space, including an extension of the existing central park and new public plazas." There would also be space to store 200 bicycles along with 318 lockers and a dozen showers. While Amazon's HQ2 plans have included the possibility of a helipad, there doesn't appear to be any mention of that in Wednesday's submission.

Eisenhower Memorial

I took this photo yesterday of the construction of Eisenhower Memorial, which is located in front of the Department of Education headquarters, right off of Independence Ave, SW.

Here are some renderings of the memorial (images courtesy of the National Capitol Planning Commission).

GSA Sells Development Site Next To National Mall
Quote:

The U.S. government has just sold a half-acre property one block south of the National Mall that it marketed as a "prime development site." The General Services Administration announced Wednesday it closed on the sale of the parcel near the 12th Street and Independence Avenue SW intersection for $4.1M. The parcel sold to Ingram Texas Partners LLC, an entity registered under a Miami address with the manager listed as Aria Mehrabi, according to documents posted Tuesday to the D.C. Recorder of Deeds.
