SHKP appoints new Vice President of Operations for Hotel Division
John Berndt: the new Vice President of Operations for SHKP's hotel division.

Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) announced today (August 16) that John Berndt has been appointed Vice President of Operations for its hotel division. Mr Berndt will be responsible for enhancing quality and operational efficiency to ensure that SHKP hotels offer the finest accommodation and service. He will also participate in the planning and development of the Four Seasons hotel complex in International Finance Centre (ifc), the new six-star hotel at Kowloon Station and SHKP' s future hotel projects.

Mr Berndt has 30 years of experience in hotel operations and management, having held senior positions in leading hotel groups including Ritz-Carlton, Westin Hotels and Resorts and Hyatt Hotels and Resorts. Prior to joining SHKP, Mr Berndt was Vice President of Operations at Harrah' s Hotel and Casino in the US. Hotels under his leadership have earned prestigious industry honours, including Best Casino Hotel in 2004, AAA 5 Diamond Award in 2003, Best New Hotel of 2001, the World' s Finest Hotelier in 2000 and the US National Quality Award in 1999.

Mr Berndt graduated from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration in 1976. He is a former co-chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce and vice-president of the Cornell Hotel Society. He has written articles for organizations including the Harvard Business Review and Asian Productivity Organization.

The hotel complex in ifc will be the first Four Seasons establishment in the territory, with around 400 deluxe guest rooms and 600 suites for long-term guests. Its convenient location above the Airport Express Hong Kong Station places it in the heart of the Central business district and will provide quick and easy access to the airport, making it attractive to tourists and business travellers. In other news, SHKP has reached an agreement for the renowned W hospitality group to manage the six-star hotel SHKP is developing at Kowloon Station. This will have one million square feet of premium-quality accommodation along with exciting dining, nightlife and entertainment.

Yeah, thanks for breathing some much needed life back into this thread. A "six-star" hotel eh? Soon one of the 100* ones will escape from Dubai with a couple of 30* ones and parhaps even a million* one as well. I never expected Hong Kong to go down that road. What the hell, this development rocks.

I guess "W" will manage the "6- star" hotel on US6 only.I heard the World highest hotel on US7 will be a "7-star" hotel...Guests will be able to see the Stonecutters Bridge-- longest cable-stayed bridge in the world on both hotel ,and if they got a telescope ,they can see the Disneyland from the room.

The Hong Kong Disneyland is to open by the end of next year.
Guests from Union Square could take the MTR to the park, the journey would takes about 20 mins.

yes the W hotel is in US6 cos there're some renderings of the entrance of the hotel in this month's perspective magazine.

^It's a tricky decision i give you that. Perhaps a compromise like W KowlKong (just kidding). Union Square will really be the place to be with Disney Land so close.

@ LeCom: feel free to steal it if you like my friend, i have no problem with the word being spread that the new Wembley Stadium's arch is up. You have all the avatars on this forum at your disposal, by the way, your new one suits you!

What do you mean ? That US7 might be taller than announced, or that the model is wrong ?

The model looks like a sweet girl. How can you say she's wrong? Oh, you mean the building.

She looks a little shy though. Or embarrassed. She must know that something's wrong with the model.

I think the model is alright ,but US7 looks like a 500+ m building instead of a 470+ building in the model.

I always think that american don't know how to define a sweet chinese girl. JACKinNYC is obviously an exception. That's a good sign
