^Damn. The original is so great. Probably terrible natural light inside, but the Deco is so beautiful.

I agree. It was originally an industrial building of some sort?

Ah, alright. I know it's expensive, but because I'm used to Ontario and it's commonality of brick structures, I just assumed. I suppose that concrete isn't in great condition for being covered up.

Also, the Montreal reclad of a reclad is unfortunate....the new design looks so run of the mill.....that is a strange deco design, but looks nice in some respects.

Was up on the roof of the Canaccord Tower in Vancouver this week and grabbed some quick shots of the scaffolding towers that may be of some interest here. They all contain a small motor used to raise and lower the work deck that is replacing the vision glass and spandrel panels.

And finally this is what it looks like from inside the building looking onto the work deck:

A lot of time and care was taken to ensure the office tenants would still have light and visibility through the mesh while still providing fall protection to the workers and materials.

The project is expected to take about 2 years and is nearly complete the top floor.

I like the look of walk up apartments with their original colour schemes, so I see this as a regressive makeover, but to each their own taste in architecture.

They did a good, tasteful job with the Scotia Plaza reclad, but I still can't shake the feeling that it's going from being something special to something ordinary.

One reclad that really irks me is what they are doing to the two very handsome towers at the Richmond and Adelaide Centre. If the paneling needed replacing they should have done so but kept it to the original design. Especially the shorter tower.
