Well, we're getting closer to solving this mystery!

Building height taken from the most recent drawings submitted to the City for approval, available on the City website. Here's a zoomed in image that shows the height at 425':

Now here's a zoomed in image of the lower part where they start the measurement from. The measurements begin 2 floors below ground level because the base is exposed on the bluff side of the building. So because the backside of the building is exposed on the bluff that is where they started the measurement. here's the image:

So, from all of this I take it that from ground level on the Prospect Ave. side of the building the height is going to be roughly 325' but on the bluff side of the building they are adding another 100' because the parking garage, pool, spa, and gym are goiing to be built into the bluff. It's either that or they are starting the measurment from the base of the bluff, either way, I would go for the 325' ground level before I would the 425'.

Just to illustrate better what this is all saying, here are 2 more renderings that shows the difference between the Prospect Ave. side and the bluff side of the building. No on=ther high rise in the near eastside skuline is built like this into the bluff.

I was just about to say that the ground in elevation drawings is very rarely listed at 0'0". That mark is usually at the lowest point in an area, usually a river or lake. In this case, the building is clearly 325'-0".

BTW, Landmark on the Lake is 248' as measured from its front entrance. I believe the old height was measured like some were measuring this one: forgetting to take bluff height from the overall altitude of the top of the tower. It's why they got 350' instead of approximately 250'. The fact on Emporis says that it's 350' measured from the back of the building, but there couldn't be possibly a 100-foot difference, there.

thanks for sorting that out paule. It's clear that the 100' discrepancy for transera and landmark is coming from the fact that the taller height figures are being measured from the bottom of the bluff, which is one way to measure things, but not how official building heights are calculated.

Preliminary rendering for the 30-story 1010 Nicollet in downtown Minneapolis. It looks like the major tenant would be Target Corp. since the building will be connected by skyway to the existing HQ.

now that it is occupied and the sign on top has been installed, Queen City Square is now complete and has been removed from the construction list on page 1 of this thread. that leaves only the two projects underway up in milwaukee as the lone 200'+ highrise projects currently under construction in the midwest outside of chicago.

lean times indeed for skyscraper construction fans in the midwest.

Just wondering, what about the OSU Medical Center Expansion-20 floors/293 feet? They are apparently working on the foundation. There are renderings and info at Urbanohio(http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/inde...c,20860.0.html ), among other places.

A proposed 36-story apartment tower at 1368 LaSalle in downtown Minneapolis is going before the City Planning Commission.

The 30-story 1010 Nicollet office tower is rumored to now be in the 44-story range.

Sounds like a 700-footer.

A 3rd new tower was proposed tonight at the Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association meeting.

Located at 5th & Nicollet Mall across from Neiman Marcus and the LRT station. A 6-story podium topped by a slender 27-story apartment tower for a total of 33 floors, plus a "crown." Rents starting around $1200. Breaking ground next March. Skyway connections to Neiman Marcus and restoration of the connection to the 5th Street Office Towers. The project would occupy the south half of the block.

No height was given if I recall correctly, but this would probably be in the range of 325-375 feet.

The site of the proposed 1010 Nicollet Tower - long rumored to be occupied by Target - has now been sold by the original developer to Target Corp outright. So undoubtedly the rendering shown above in post #348 will change.
