The crown on Comcast 1 seems to be specifically designed to be an architectural/design feature of the building and since it’s on the roof, yes it’s going to house HVAC units as well. The same seems to be true for CTC. I don’t think you design the crown of the building to be as small as possible while still be able to house the units.

that's a cool picture. It looks to have the same 4 cooling units that will be ontop of CTC, just sitting side by side as opposed to stacked, and a lot more 'stuff' around them. They may also be bigger, hard to say, but I wouldn't be surprised if the newer ones going on CTC are more compact in size. I like how the cooling units were incorporated into both designs, good stuff

I agree, that effect is heavenly.

Yeah, those are great! I especially like the close up of CTC from the observation deck and the one with the Comcast towers with the Franklin Institute in the foreground.

Think we'll ever get another non-glass tower, like Mellon? Something in the >700' range?

Sure hope so! And if SHoP (involved in the Master Plan) actually ends up designing any of the buildings, I would expect it. The blue glass gets monotonous. Mellon, Three Logan Square, and the black PNC building are some of my favorite buildings in the skyline as they break things up. I love the red granite and massing of Three Logan generally. Very handsome building.

The cooling tower structures will be classed with glass and will have lights in them

While I'm definitely liking this building overall, a slight disappointment that the glass ended up a similar blue to much of the skyline rather than the blackish hue some suspected prior to cladding.
