Why would it? America operating without congressional deadlock again.

After the initial shock things will go back to business as usual. And Republicans are extremely pro business in every sense from every angle. Trump being elected president doesn't magically change the vast majority of Republican congress legislative philosophies.

But Trump really is not a Republican. There is a big disconnect between Trump and traditional Republican policy.

Van Jones on CNN at 00:42 am. Worth listening to if it gets posted on the net.

Talks about how this vote is a "whitelash" against the new America, Obama as president, etc. Among other things.

Markets have pretty much always preferred typical Republicans to typical Democrats.

The unknown quantity is Trump, but he can't do anything alone anyway. The fact that Congress has remained Republican is a good thing for markets.

The fact that Republicans will control the house, senate, & presidency will be bonkers good for business. Trump will enforce his "for everyone new rule, kill two others" policy, which Canada should probably adopt as well.

I couldn't avoid laughing when an American on another discussion board reflected fondly (and sarcastically) on the good old days of George W. Bush as President.

I can live with that...

It was foolish to think that some stuff like that wasn't going to come back.

A lot of stuff (good, bad or neutral) is probably going to "come back".

And not just in the U.S.

You'll convince yourself of anything, won't you? Milton Friedman, Friedrich Hayek, and Adam Smith are spinning in their graves.

I am glad you could find one out of the 76 policies that you can agree with.

Are you really that naive?

The orange clown built his candidacy on ripping up NAFTA and he owes nothing to those who support it, there is going to be huge economic upheaval.

^Yup. The US economy is going to tank after Trump sinks much of its international trade. And the world economy with it.

I actually stopped at #3 out of #76 because right after I posted I had to address a PM from a gay American and reputable SSPer who, it turns out, is quite interested in the help I offered him in case he was serious about trying to relocate here. I figure it was more important than continuing to pay attention to a list I'm in no position to influence whatsoever.

Me? Retired?!? Lol. I wish.

My gf would also wish you were right, I'm in my early 30s and still too busy to even consider kids at this point.

Exactly, so many of his policies are anti-trade. Not just NAFTA, but China trade. One policy of preventing Ford from manufacturing cars in Mexico, may put a dagger in America's most successful of the remaining car manufacturers.

As the trade becomes more international, how can America hide within its boundaries?
