(CNA) A double-decker tour bus that will hit the road in Kaohsiung on Wednesday was unveiled at a press conference in the southern city Sunday.
The bus, with 44 seats on the upper deck and 10 on the lower level, will carry one tour guide and is equipped with a portable audio tour guide service in English, Japanese and Korean.
The bus will operate on a four-month trial basis on a 11-km north-south route that will start and end at the square in front of Kaohsiung Dream Mall.
Traveling at 40km/hr, it will take passengers on a tour of attractions around the city, making no stops along the way.
As the back half of the upper level is open, the bus will carry 40 raincoats that will be made available to passengers if necessary, the city government said.
According to a preliminary estimates, a one-day ticket for the 40-minute bus tour will cost NT$300 (US$9.40).
The city government said it has ordered two double-decker tour buses for the new service, at a cost of NT$15 million each.
The second bus is expected to be delivered in November, the city government said.
