Broadway Tower | 269' 8" | 19 floors | Complete

----------------------------
Original post:

There was probably a thread about this lot at some point. The site of the old Chevron station on Broadway, next to the Ladd Tower, was sold by TMT (PAW/Fox Tower developer) to Greg Goodman, who has tentative plans for an apartment tower.

Note that the rendering is really old - it shows the old Rose Friends apartment building (brick building in center), which was torn down to make way for the Ladd.

Boy would I love to see this get built. I hate having that empty lot just sitting there. It's been like that for so long I completely forgot about it was a gas station... and what an amazing location.

It is a little sad seeing the Rose Friend in that old rendering.

A new parking lot!? You know, while they are working out the details for a future building. Like all the other Goodman lots.

That tower was a TMT/TVA project and is not likely to be built now that TMT no longer owns the site. Until the economy does a complete 180, Goodman will probably hold onto this lot for a decade or two before seriously considering building something there. Unfortunately, it'll just be another parking lot for the foreseeable future.

Couldn't they at least dig a hole in the ground?

Is there any update on the old gas station site, downtown, on SW Broadway & Columbia? It was supposed to become a residential tower at one point before the economy tanked, if memory serves correct.

^Spot was owned by TMT and a sexy high rise condo was planned. Project's dead and I read somewhere that TMT sold the land to Goodman, I think.

Here we go:

TVA Architects Inc. designed a condominium tower on Southwest Columbia between Park and Broadway for TMT Development, the sites' former owner, in 2007. Greg Goodman, who bought the site in a deal that closed Thursday, said he has no immediate plans but envisions a similar apartment tower.

Portland developer Greg Goodman has bought a now-vacant downtown Portland lot adjacent to the South Park Blocks that's long been considered a prime spot for a residential tower.

In a deal that closed Thursday, Goodman bought the property for $3.6 million from TMT Development, the company behind the Fox Tower and the now-stalled Park Avenue West Tower.

The 25,000-square-foot former site of a Chevron station, located on Southwest Columbia Street between Park and Broadway,
has been vacant since the mid-2000s. Part of the lot is used for surface parking.

Goodman, the president of City Center Parking and Downtown Development Group, said there are no immediate plans for the spot.

That site has been vacant for over a decade. I can barely even remember when it was a gas station.

Hotel plus office over retail sounds taller than 8 stories, though I doubt we'll get anything as striking as the tower originally planned for the site. To be fair, if I'm not mistaken, that tower was nothing more than a sketch that probably would have changed drastically as early sketches do. Who knows what would have been built if it didn't get killed off by the recession... or did it die off before the recession?

I'll be VERY glad to see something finally built here.

I'm blown away by how many hotels seem to be in the works! Is this going to be another one?! Wow. At what point will we have more hotels than we have demand for.

Why are most of your comments so negative? In this case the proposal is unknown yet you've already dismissed it. What a horrible way of looking at things.

If you're getting that from the link I provided above I should make it clear that describes the maximum allowable height, and not necessarily what's proposed.

Who says it being an 8 story stump is negative? I'm just simply guessing what it most likely will be. Considering this is Portland that's not a long shot. Geez
