Also did anyone notice this http://tvaarchitects.com/projects/re...wer-apartments planned for the parking lot across from Living Room Theaters?

If built it would be good infill for that site.

I wish they would date some of this stuff but if that's the project next to the old Federal Reserve/Jive building, it was proposed back before the Great Recession and killed when the economy went south. I haven't heard any plans to bring it back to life.

That's the challenge with these architecture sites. Some post buildings that are proposed but never built. It does show how good their work is but they need to add some context.

Do we even know whether TVA was retained for the 4th and Washington site? That lot was announced as a 15 story hotel, so a tower of this size is out of left field.

Yeah, it seems out of left field, but someone applied for an early assistance meeting on an LRS 30 story tower last week, so this one is current. They cancelled it, but still gives a time line. As for the Reserve Tower, I had the same questions about the age of the posts, remembering the talk back in '08 or so.

The 4th and Washington TVA rendering reminds me of an updated version of their never built Broadway Tower. http://tvaarchitects.com/category/projects/towers

I'd be glad to see it built, but I think it's ugly. It's bulky, boxy and lacks any sense of grace.
It would help to fill in that part of the downtown skyline though.

It looks like they took their inspiration from rooftop solar panels.

I think it's a bit of a mess.

There's the chunk missing along the upper east face, and the lower southern face,
the sides rising to different heights, the giant indentation along the bottom, the angles, angles, angles.

To me, it looks like design by committee. They couldn't decide which ideas to go with and which to pass on.

I think it could be an amazing tower if they'd commit to an overall concept and stick with it.

Oh that's absolutely stunning. It's about time this city is building something like this. And what a perfect spot in the skyline to help fill in that massive gap.

Geez and it looks taller than the big pink

What's the timeline it gave?

I just meant it is current as that was this weeks intake, not 2008.

It does look large, but the block is zoned for 460' so it can't be taller than Park Avenue West. It will look tall, though, because of how close it is to the river.

I agree - a stunning addition to the skyline!!!!

It should make a huge impact on the skyline given that it's on 4th (versus PAW on 8th/Park) and there is nothing of substantial height between it and the river.

But I think that last photo overstates it's relative height versus Big Pink.

But a big woo hoo on this one!

I agree with 2oh1, it's kinda clunky at the top especially with that panel just randomly sticking out on the west portion. It's modern but I wouldn't say very sleek -- kind of patchwork style, not a nice flow to it. But I'd happily forgive some of the design flaws just to see a 400'+ tower closer to the river!

That's AWESOME!! I don't get the hate. To me, this is a fantastic design, and would be the finest addition to the skyline I've ever seen. I love the different angles, and the presence it has. Tell me this is For real.

It's certainly NOT "boxy. The Portland building and every other stumpy PDX building are boxy. This design is a sexy lady.

Looks like there are two versions of the design on TVA's site in the renderings. I like both. Both make a bold statement, and would fill the void that was left by the KPF designed Morrison Tower dummy down to the Odeous Tower.

Don't get me wrong I loooove this proposal. Yes it's modern and yes it's tall (PDX tall haha), but to me it just has some odd breakups in the design. I'd like to see a little more smooth curvature like Fox Tower. But really this would be an awesome addition, especially in this location that really needs a tall building.

So that 4th and Washington site is for sure active? Is this project separate from the other 30-story tower planned for the Alder food cart block?

Yup separate. Pretty nice huh? It's going to fill the gap in the skyline nicely

We need separate threads on these towers.

I really had no idea they were progressing, just heard some rumors here.
If they are serious, let's get some threads going on them to discuss.

Not in love with the renders here, but WHO CARES, we need more towers.
(my dislike is it basically looks like all the other stuff my TMT, just, so, staid).

These are not formal proposals yet. So far, they are just rumors and/or still in their idea stages.
