I won't be sorry to see that building gone... but... ANOTHER hotel? Wow.

Per today's 'Metro Reports' the applicant is Mortenson (who are behind the Hyatt Regency and the Hyatt Centric).

Hotel Lobby

I'd anticipate the city wanting the entry vestibule further down Everett and free up the corner for something else. Also fire is going to want a straight and visible path to the vestibule immediately when you exit the stair adjacent to the elevators.

I like the design of the building, stoked about something going up in that area. I think the Casey is the only tall building within reach of that area. It's encouraging they're putting some thought to the end walls instead of cheaply blank-slating them. I can't imagine parking being an issue with both garages on the same block. Only concern I guess is pedestrian realm, with high traffic coming off the 405.
