Century City is a joke. "City" indeed - it's just an office park.

I wouldn't say that. I mean, it has residential, a grocery store, movie theaters, high-end retail, and offices. In that regard, it is a self contained city. It seems like an office park to you because everything is so widely spaced apart. This is because in the 60s, when it was designed, Century City was supposed to be a model city of the future, and would let in light and be very conducive to automotive transport, which it does and is.

That's right. That plan to build twin towers behind the Century Plaza Hotel is a good example of what direction Century City in general should look to on where it needs to go in terms of development patterns.

scalziand, it's actually kitty corner from the Century Plaza Hotel site, so not even down the street, it's diagonally across the intersection.

Wow. It has been a while since the last post.

Here is a link to an article I found dated June 25, 2013 which makes reference to this project:

Didn't they just cancel this one? Or was it only the residential tower of this complex that got canceled?

Plans for the office building have been cancelled and the land has been put up for sale. Current entitlements are in place for residential... two 47-story towers plus a 12-story tower. I'm expecting to see this get bought by a foreign investor and for things to then start rolling again. LA Times has a recent article on this:
