930 W. Fulton is gorgeous. Wish it was taller, but that red brick and detailing is sublime!

Looking at those shots reminded me - what's up with the hotel at Navy Pier? Nearly two years ago there were renderings of a fairly elaborate facade covering the building.

Here's a webcam. https://app.oxblue.com/open/mchugh/navypierhotel

Not sure if the construction has halted or if it is ongoing... the timelapse appears to show continuous work.

There are several versions of the design floating on the internet, but IIRC this project got VE'd majorly. I believe this rendering is most current version, but I could be wrong.

Design wise, the Navy Pier Hotel is a dud

But I expect that commercially it will be a huge success. I’m wagering it will even end up getting expanded some day in the future

^^They are very serious about documenting the progress. Typically this is a sign of strength in the development. I would doubt construction is halted.

Construction fencing up around the Pierre's Bakery site in Logan that Rosa tried to downzone. You lose again Carlos and ensure less affordable housing in the process...

Did they demolish it yet? They got the demo permits a few weeks ago I think.

Saw the fencing go up this week. I hope they don't put some suburban bs on the riverfront site just north of here, but I guess Elston from Fullerton to Diversey is pretty much a lost cause anyway.

Quote:
Mid-America Asset Management, which Vienna hired to oversee the redevelopment of its nearly 9-acre riverfront property, applied for permits this month to begin construction on one of two buildings planned for 1942 West Fullerton Avenue, city records show...

...In 2015, at the height of a years long city effort to untangle the six-way intersection of Fullerton, Elston and Damen avenues, Vienna unveiled plans to erect a pair of retail buildings on a curved 2.5-acre island of property surrounded by the reconfigured roads.

One of the buildings will be fully leased by a Chick-Fil-A restaurant, and Panera will take about 6,000 square feet — roughly half the space — in an adjacent building.

It's being crunched into by an excavator as of today.

Attitude? I'm staying the facts, Carlos does nothing but block reasonable proposals for vacant lots, try to downzone arterial streets, and try to revoke entitlements that have already been granted. At this point further increases in the destruction of affordable housing in his ward are his problem, he owns the lack of results.

Can't wait to see a brand new building replace a vacant lot with productive uses, new homes for those moving into the area, and a tax producing structure.
