Here's the ZIM Antwerp in Halifax. It's one of the biggest container ships to have visited the port there, and one of the larger ones in the world. It was built in 2009, is 349 meters long, and can carry over 10,000 shipping containers (it's a lot bigger than it looks in the photo).

Another angle:

A couple more big ships, USS Eisenhower and Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas. They're around 350 m long too:

^Never mind the ship, the first pic makes Halifax look huge with highrises dotting the landscape everywhere.

I thought this view was interesting, although it also highlights a couple of missed opportunities in Halifax. The Art Deco Dominion Building is great, but not very prominent. It's on a small, narrow street, right next to a similar building of similar height. The tower portion faces the street. It would have been so much better at the end of a street, or facing the water. As it is, it's imposing from street level, but only if you're right next to it.

The light blue clock tower thing is the original clock from the naval dockyard that was one of the main British naval bases from around 1760 until sometime in the 1800's. The original mechanism from circa 1760 is still working, but the 80's/90's tower looks like something from a playground. It would be so much better if something resembling the original clock building (or a later iteration) were rebuilt to give it a bit more historical context.

The original clock tower looked like this:

Later on it was moved to a firehouse:
