Keep digging deeper and deeper. Anyone kno whow deep they have to go? How many rows of tie-backs will there be?

Soon, they'll likely move the ramp again so that they can access the area below it to dig there!

Judging upon their sketches, there are to be 5-6 levels of parking, which I assume are to have 1 layer of tie-backs per level.

Based upon that assumption, they are just about complete for this phase.

The project is funded by Claridge themselves, not by an outside lender as most projects are in Ottawa. Because of that, Claridge started breaking ground well before they were even close to 60% sold out (which is the point that most projects start). The early start date of construction was mainly a sales tactic s the pace of construction isn't important right now, I guess with the competition of Soho Lisgar and Central, they had to build sales momentum somehow.

Wow - it's been a year already? Guess it'll be along time before Tribeca residents take the elevator down to the grocery store.

Do you they have to go down any further or are they done once the ramp is completely gone?

That really is a deep excavation for Downtown Ottawa...the blue rocket and the other equipment in the bottom really help one visualize the size and depth of it...

If they're removing the ramp, then generally they're done excavating.

Should expect to see a tower crane appearing soon...

It will be awesome to see this progress into the construction phase, up out of the bottom of that pit...

It looks as if all the water is collecting in one corner, indicating that they will still need to level the base; either by blasting rock or pouring a lot of concrete. My bet would be blasting. The high area is under where the ramp was so the ramp had to be removed.

There are also a lot of tie-backs on the lower row which have not yet been drilled and installed. Again, the ramp had to be moved for that.

Don't get too eagar to see the crane go up, I seems to me as if there is still some work to be done.

[Just a fun question: Since this foundation is right up against the neighbouring brick building; where does that first row of tie-backs beside the building go? See concrete06's first picture]
