I like the "Official mobile spectator guide", it seems to be the official VANOC one.

Anyway, it has integrated GPS so you can see how far/where things are. You can sort easily by "city" (Metro Van) vs. Whistler, and events vs. celebrations. All in all pretty good.

I'd love an app that does something similar for the pavilions though, anybody got one for that?

Sweet. Downloading now. That Vancouver Sun google maps thing is good, but too difficult to navigate in Google Earth on the iPhone.

The VANOC iphone app is the one must-have app everyone must have.

NBC's looks very nice. CTV's is OK as well.

But again, the official iphone app is really the critical one, as it lists all of the official and unofficial venues and pavilions - and does some amazing interfacing with GPS and maps.

They should have done something for Blackberry.

Olympic people seem more of the "Blackberry type". And of course, the official phone of the Olympics is neither a Blackberry or an iPhone...

Actually, some of the top organizers demanded to use Blackberries because the Samsung smartphone wasn't cutting it - or something like that.

I don't have a lot of interest in Samsung's smartphone, but I think they are doing an awesome job of sponsorship, especially in downtown Vancouver where they are everywhere.

FYI NBC requires 3.1. CTV/Bell apps do not.

Why don't they make it in Java so that everybody, including the official phone, can use it? I'm not planning on buying into Apples proprietary micromanaged apps and app store.

The VANOC app is great, it even has a bunch of cultural events listed in it. And it has the official maps for in and around venues, which is a good touch.

But it would have been AMAZING if they had it interface with your ticket information so it could automatically have your schedule of events and give you reminders when you should be somewhere.

Any idea if they made one for Android, WebOS or Windows Mobile, as Bell is into those too?
