It was designed by the legendary Albert Kahn and architecturally it was quite unique for NYC with an understated elegance reminiscent of 1920/30s continental Europe early modernism. Plus it had a compelling history. You can read more about it in the previous posts and on Daytonian in Manhattan.

I would have liked to see this preserved.

Didn’t RIU Hotels buy it? Most of their projects are horrendous. I’m concerned about getting a 500’+ eyesore.
