Quincy is a town of just under 7,000 in the Florida Panhandle, about 20 miles W/NW of the capital city of Tallahassee.
It is the seat of Gadsden County, Florida's only majority African American county.

We've got to get there first... this was a drive from Montgomery, AL to Tampa, FL. Let's take a ride through the deep Deep South.
Rainy morning in southeastern Alabama
In Houston County, Alabama's southeast corner. It's beginning to look a bit Floridian.
Crossing into Seminole County, the southwestern-most in the state of Georgia
The tiny county seat of Donalsonville, pop. 2,700
Decatur County, Georgia
Bainbridge, GA - pop. 12,000
Into Quincy
That rainstorm from earlier in the day departing
Around Quincy's courthouse square
Gadsden County courthouse
Into the capital city of Tallahassee
The Florida State capitol, 1970's version
The old 1845 capitol remains as a museum
Rotunda
The long, long, --
l o n g -- drive down around the crook of Florida towards Tampa. Driving into the state this way made it feel as vast and endless as Texas. It really is a huge state.
Beyond just visiting every state (I'm at 43) I decided a while ago that I want to hike in each state. This stroll through the woods in Perry County made Florida my 32nd state hiked in. I got my ass kicked by mosquitoes, so it was a mercifully brief hike.
Coincidentally, or perhaps not: the town of Cross City, FL. Keep on truckin'.
