I can confirm. And there is a lot of this kind of thing year round:

It's just part of normal home/yard decoration in this area.

Another thing Acadians like to do is display their paternal/maternal family names in their yard decorations (especially as August nears):

Note the US flag at far left... this is likely in Maine, but still part of Acadia.

Since I have Acadian roots on both sides I am very familiar with all of the stuff that's been posted.

As a keen observer of human societies I've watched the Acadie-mania grow steadily over the years, and it's now to the point where I find it a bit freaky, even if still endearing as well.

I always find myself thanking the heavens that "Acadia" doesn't possess weapons of mass destruction.

Yes, I was hoping you wouldn't notice it. It's actually pointing at the southern Gaspé coast.

It doesn't count if you have to view it from space.......

I don't think I've ever seen a BC flag on a private residence, or anything but a government building, and even then it's unusual.

Canadian flags aren't very common either - maybe a few in a conservative suburban neighbourhood.

So true! There are even a number of people of Acadian background in Timmins who have the flag on their houses, cars, etc.. Quite a few people moved here from New Brunswick, especially from Bathurst, for jobs in mining.

I have a photo of myself in front of that when I was there about 15 years ago.

It is quite rare to see Ontario's flag on a residence in Northern Ontario. Also, you don't see many Canadian flags in the Northeast but there are some.

That's because Ontario's flag isn't terribly inspiring as it is a mishmash of British, English and Canadian elements that was a response to the new Maple Leaf flag in the '60s. It's a relic for people who still think the Red Ensign should be Canada's flag.

Nor does Ontario have the same nationalism element that Newfoundland, Acadia and Quebec have. I'm relatively certain if you talked to most Ontarians, they'd consider themselves Canadians first by far and Ontarians second distantly.

The Canadian flag is the defacto 'Ontario flag' today.

I am always draped in my Ontario flag. I have a trillium tattooed on my back, with the inspiring provincial motto "Loyal She Remains" inscribed below it.

Hardcore Ontario pride 4 lyfe.

Most Canadian flags you see in NS are on public property I'd say the provincial flag and Acadian flag are both more common there on private property.

To be honest if someone had a Canadian flag up I'd assume they were an immigrant or from Ontario or farther west.

The Canadian flag is also frequently paired with the Union flag.

On the bright side, you'll bring down the average age of the 'Hardcore Ontarian' by a significant amount.

Down with the metric system, up with being a loyal British subject and Diefenbaker was the best damned Prime Minister we ever had!

Honestly, you see private owners flying them a lot more than the provincial flag. OP was half right by saying Saskatchewanians fly their flag more than people from other provinces; he was just wrong about which Saskatchewan flag we fly.

Take a drive down a grid road, and chances are a farm with a flagpole will have a Rider flag and the Canadian flag on the mast (in either order).

I've now been in Ontario for 17 years but rarely see the Ontario flag flown. I guess it's because it doesn't resonate with most of the population. It looks too British and too colonial. I'd certainly not ever own or fly one. I do have a Canadian flag though. I do like the Toronto neighbourhood flag of Cabbagetown too. In Cabbagetown it's the most popular flag by a long shot.

Cabbagetown flag

Strong sense of belonging to province

Nova Scotia 46%
New Brunswick 41%
Quebec 52%
Ontario 39%
Manitoba 37%
Saskatchewan 50%
Alberta 44%

I wonder how closely linked a "sense of belonging" is to flying the provincial flag.
