It's kind of a wash for me because you lose street-fronting at Cedar Springs and Maple but the backside of the complex is parking, a motor bank, and a vacant lot, the latter I'm not sure is included in this proposal.

The Plano Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday approved a revised preliminary site plan for an 11-story office building and a 10-story office building east of the Dallas North Tollway in Plano.

Definitely the most significant development in DTD in some time.

Knox Street's familiar Weir's Furniture block is getting a high-rise makeover

Project Location

Quote:
The owners of Weir's Furniture and Atlanta-based developer Geyer Morris Co. plan to build a high-rise retail and office development on the site of the almost 70-year-old store.

For several months, the Weir family and the developers have worked to design the project, which preserves the Highland Park Soda Fountain buildingmore than a century old — on the corner of Knox and Travis streets.

"We are focused on saving that soda fountain building — that's been an original desire of ours," said Geyer Morris' Justin Schoellkopf. "We've let this dictate the design of the rest of the project."
Quote:
The lower floors would have retail and office and step back from the street to a 12-story office high-rise.

Weir's Furniture would relocate to a two-story space on the Travis Street side of the new building.
Quote:
Parking for the 50,000 square feet of retail space and offices in the tower would be in a six-level underground garage.

"It's expensive, but we wanted to do it," Schoellkopf said.

More office space on the way at booming Cypress Waters project

Quote:
The 3201 Olympus Boulevard project will have 250,000 square feet of space in a five-story building. The office development is part of The Sound district at Cypress Waters, which also includes retail and restaurant space and apartments.
Quote:
Billingsley filed a building permit with the city of Dallas for $25 million, which includes the 3201 Olympus office building and a four-story parking garage.

"We are breaking ground in the first quarter and the building should be complete by second quarter 2019," said Carey Morgan, Billingsley's director of marketing. "It is a lakeside building across the street from 20,000 square feet of retail with a dog park, splash pad for kids, lakefront amphitheater for concerts, 5-6-mile hike/bike trail, and parks with events and programming throughout the year.

Fort Worth | Downtown

New 8 floor Hampton Inn downtown is complete. The 245 room replaced an abandoned Greyhound station and surface parking lot. It is across the street from the convention center and 1 block from the central transit center in a part of DT that has not had much development in recent years.

What have y'all thought about if:

1. Streetcar line connector gets built.
2. D2 happens.
3. That "unnamed" elevated highway east of downtown gets torn down.
4. Dallas gets amazon(I know, but still, what if)

I personally think downtown would have a renaissance like no other. Any locals have thoughts on what these items together would produce for downtown?

Dallas AMLI Fountain Place

I found this rendering of the tower online at https://www.multihousingnews.com/pos...award-winners/
I am not sure who the creator of the rendering is, but it is something I had not seen before. The article was written by IvyLee Rosario Nov 7, 2017.
Enjoy.

I am personally praying to everything holy that Dallas gets Amazon HQ2. I feel pretty confident in our city and even without Amazon, we are constantly growing and becoming a better city to live in.

Me too! I'd be delighted regardless of where they built, but I think it would be especially great if they built their new campus on all those Headington-owned parking lots near Fountain Place/Ross Ave. Imagine that view of Downtown with a series of spiffy new towers filling those currently vacant lots.

This part of Downtown, if Amazon moves in and the SA Museum and Signature Tower happen.

Nice find, Roman.

It's always helpful to see a different angle regarding proposals.

The Drever Dallas

Yesterday and this morning I noticed what appears to be LED testing for the The Drever Tower in downtown Dallas.
I took a couple of pics. It looks very interesting for sure.
enjoy.

That would be absolutely amazing for downtown.
I would also be very happy with the Smart District or even Victory Park.

Interesting! The Drever's lighting looks a reflection from some other building, but if that is in fact what they're doing, it's not at all what I expected. I assumed they were going to have LEDs in the building's vertical elements, and they'd just cycle between colors, rather than the whole building potentially becoming a big billboard (which I think is pretty cool if done well).
