Will be interesting to see how this one ends up. Vranich builds quick, but i've heard iffy and questionable things regarding their finished products...

The area of this one is what really intrigues me. I think it's important to offer people different parts of Downtown to live in. Looking forward to seeing this one rise.

Different parts? I realize The Royal Connaught fronts on King street but Walnut is literally a block from Catharine. The site of the Connaught. Yes, two-way Main st would make this connection more walkable but it is basically the same part of town.
Please take no offence.

Nice to see something tallish being built in the eastern part of the core. Been a long time since First Place went up (1976)

That darker shading on Landmark/Century21 is throwing me off a bit. I don't mind it at all, I just wonder if the whole tower will eventually embrace the Dark Side or give in to assimilation. (spit-balling here, but a charcoal palette with neon green lighting might just make this sistey-fugler something of a more fetching eye-catcher)

Except the Connaught is right on King E and right in the Core/Gore Park.

What I meant about this project was, it's a little "tucked away" or secluded. This isn't a bad thing by any means. I was pointing out the obvious. I live downtown, so while this development is literally a block away from the Connaught as you said, it feels like it's in a different area, less stuff going on, etc.

moving at lightning speed, today, pics by me:

I believe the extra crane piece will be used to increase the height of the existing crane. Just below the boom(?) of the crane it looks like it *might* be one that expands itself upwards, or it will just be added be removing the top and adding it.

Today:

I don't understand why they've only excavated 60%~ the site. Is the parking podium being built in second phase, or does it not have a basement?

I'd have to agree for the parking podium - most likely no basement.

Nothing new for him. He did the same at caroline and george. He’ll pay the fine as a cost of doing business and get the permits eventually.

This one still shut down, or does anyone see activity on site.

I took these pictures on Tuesday. They've installed much better hoarding (some the last hoarding looked like it was ready to keel over) but it's clear they're still stopped by the order for the shoring permit. The state of the site is the same, except it's totally flooded:

Good thing Darko owns that crane, I believe he recently bought two, or the rent for the crane would put a serious dent on his budget.

Ya i read he bought 2. But hes got 3 on his sites now. One here, one on caroline and one on queen.

No idea why the one on caroline is still up. All the heavy lifting is done and building is buttoned up.

I guess the "stop work order" prevents pumping rainwater out of the future foundation? Or is there a "water removal permit" needed now?

Will probably trigger a "water damage inspection" before approval to proceed once the shoring permit is signed.
