This tower is very visible when driving through New Westminster. It looked pretty good from upclose as well.

The thread title shouldbe changed to The Peninsula.

Progressing nicely.

But are there any updates on the pedestrian bridge they're supposed to be building?

After uproar from a couple of people who live near where the bridge would connect with mainland New Westminster, the city's going back to its original proposal to have a bridge that opens instead of a taller bridge that doesn't. The money for the bridge originally had a "best before" date of 2017 on it, but the city's got that extended to 2020 because of all of the delays in dealing with all of the various parties.

Thanks for the New West updates Vanman. That shot makes it look like the tower is on the Quay. It will be great to one day walk from downtown to eastern Queensborough quickly. That would make Port Royal only a 15 or 20 minute walk to New West skytrain station. Sweet deal!

I was down there a couple of weeks ago and it feels so isolated. You absolutely have to drive to get there (there's a token 104 route that occasionally goes down there) and getting there means driving through industrial. You can see mainland New West from the park across the street, but you feel so far away from it. That whole end of Queensborough would really benefit from the pedestrian bridge that the city's been proposing for the past few years (but there are a few vocal NIMBYs in the Quayside towers that are against it).
