I live on jasmine and it's mainly drug ripoffs or finding the guys who previously robbed you.

All quiet on the homicide front in Montreal

It has been an unusually quiet start to 2016 for Montreal’s homicide squad.

It’s mid-March and not a single slaying has been reported, Montreal police confirmed Friday.

Homicides had been committed by Jan. 21 in every one of the previous 10 years. In four of the past 10 years (2013, 2009, 2008 and 2007), the first slayings of the year happened in the first week of January.

How does Montreal account for its extraordinarily low violent crime rate?

Edmonton has 8, possibly 9 as police investigate a body found in a hotel room.

The last one was literally a 4 minwalk from my front door. The poor guy was shot 8 times. He must have pissed somebody off. Still feel safe and if a reporter stopped me in the street I'd say the same cliché thing people always say. " It's such a safe neighbourhood you never expect something g like that here".

The problem with many shooting murders is they are gang related and come in waves. Retaliation hits, you get good years and bad ones. I think this will be a bad one.

I was definitely surprised regarding Montreal, that it was their first of the year. Is this a record for latest first homicide in a year. Ottawa is at four (all shootings), with a potential fifth one (victim from this morning's shooting is in critical condition) while Toronto had their 22nd one yesterday

Ottawa was already at five before this morning's shooting I think.

I think London is only at one. 2 bodies were found in Old South in mid Feb but it is believed to be a murder/suicide so it is only counted as one murder. I think that is all the city has had so far.
