Downtown Dallas’ Trammell Crow Center skyscraper next up for a redo
June 1, 2015

Quote:
The owner of the 50-story Trammell Crow Center – J.P. Morgan Asset Management – is interviewing architects for a major overall of the Ross Avenue high-rise. The 30-year-old, 1.2 million square-foot tower is one of the last of the great 1980s skyscrapers that hasn’t had a redo.
Quote:
Renovation of the Crow Center would include a revamp of the groundfloor lobby, exterior plaza areas and addition of new tenants amenities, architects who are pitching the deal say.

The only thing I'd change on the exterior of the Trammell Crow building is the pyramid atop the building, it needs better lighting to make it pop.

I agree. It's a beautiful building when looked at individually. But it does get overlooked with Dallas other tallest especially at night.

A preliminary design is out for Perot Tower.

Downtown skyscraper plans and Victory Park office campus will lure businesses to center city

Quote:
Developer HIllwood’s new urban real estate team is planning the office projects. It’s just launched Hillwood Urban development firm will focus the Dallas-based company’s expertise at large projects.

“We’re looking to do core urban developments,” said Hillwood Properties’ president Mike Berry. “We’ve already been invited to compete on major corporate office developments with the other firms that are in this mix.
Quote:
To woo businesses and jobs to downtown, Hillwood Urban has drawn up preliminary plans for a more than 1 million square foot skyscraper that could be built at the corner of Field Street and Woodall Rodgers Freeway near Klyde Warrant Park.
Quote:
Hillwood is holding an architectural competition for the design for the office tower it wants to build on Woodall Rodgers.

The tower could be as small as a half million square feet or more than 50 stories depending on what a company wanted for offices, Reese said.

If the building is constructed it would be the first true skyscraper downtown since the 1980s.

A preliminary design is out for a Victory block.

Downtown skyscraper plans and Victory Park office campus will lure businesses to center city

Quote:
The developer is also designing an 8-acre, multi-building office campus in Victory Park that would line the east side of Stemmons Freeway next to the DART rail station.
Quote:
The Victory Park office campus Hillwood Urban is proposing would be built on a large public plaza next to the DART station.

“We can build it in multiple phases and could do more than 2 million square feet of office space,” Reese said.

Interesting...
I was thinking they were shooting for a new tallest for the city. Pretty design though!

Texas does a good job of not overbuilding. This very well could be a supertall but it still depends on demand as stated on the article. This design is not final also. It's just a starter to start getting potential tenants interested.

I actually think it smart that they initially designed it around 50ish floors to not cause panic of a potential oversaturation on the market. If enough space is leased I am sure they will release a taller building to leave room for speculation.

Even if they were to stick with this design, with the crown it could be the tallest building built in Texas since the 80's.

The rate of speed at which the Olive is rising is absolutely phenomenal! Breathtaking! How close is it to topping out? It seems like every week it adds another three floors

They are on the "12th" floor now. The Lobby is technically 3 floors, but counted as 1. There's 8 more floors to go. The building will have a 21st floor, but no 13th floor.

The two Victory Park towers will create some balance for the northern portion of the neighborhood.

Redevelopment deal will give old Dallas hotel new life
Steve Brown
June 8, 2015

Quote:
“We plan to open in mid-2016, and it will have 237 rooms,” said Larry Hamilton, principal with Dallas’ Hamilton Properties, which is leading the redevelopment of the 12-story project.

With postcard views of the Dallas skyline, Hamilton said the upscale boutique hotel will serve the nearby Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center and the fast-growing Cedars district south of downtown.

“We will be the only Ascend hotel in Dallas,” Hamilton said. “They are for travelers who are looking for something unique.”

Dallas doesn't need something of that height. Could probably easily fill two shorter towers. Build the density and the talls will come. I'd rather lots be taken up and work on the street level. A tower of that height does nothing but create a big vacancy.

Umm, probably not. Houston is in the process of erecting a '758 foot, 48 story tower by Hines. Not to mention the skyscraper they just finished last year, 609 Main or the 58-story Chevron skyscraper at over 830' tall that is currently on the drawing boards--which in my opinion has about as much chance of being developed as this tower in Dallas does. The vacancy rates in the Dallas CBD are pretty outrageous aren't they? I don't know of anybody who would put up that kind of money for a building that size with no guarantees of filling it. Certainly they won't build spec...

High-rise condos ahead for Plano’s Legacy West development
Steve Brown
June 10, 2015

Quote:
A 30-story condominium tower will bring luxury living to the $2 billion Legacy West development in West Plano.
Quote:
Called Windrose at Legacy West, the tower will be on Headquarters Drive, next door to Liberty Mutual’s new buildings.

“They already have purchase reservations for about 25 of the 150 condos planned in the building,” Karahan said. “People have been calling about it.”
