Who cares if the developers are making a profit? They obviously can't make the right decision on what's the best architectural style and design for a tower this size. And a hotel this size wouldn't be too expensive, it wouldn't make sense to charge a lot of money if they wouldn't be able to rent out the rooms. This thing is still hideous, too bad Ice Tower was cancelled and not this.

I forgot that this is an economy forum...

They could also destroy the whole city and make money with rebuilding it. Who cares?
Still, this building is a nightmare of 21th century architecture.

these two renderings don't look near as bad as the first one posted here, but this thing is still way too wide for my liking and a bit overdone. but for a hotel/condo project in panama city, it's not that bad and it'll fit in with its surroundings.

Hmm.. still a pretty ugly design. Wouldn't want that in my city. How will shadows affect the surrounding area? I don't imagine that the architects tried to reduce the shadow impacts...

Speaking of 10 years, this tower will probably be shrouded with other megatalls, a good thing.

The new ones are a bit better because the cladding looks way more modern but still it´s not a beauty.

I'm trying not to vomit when I look at this design... I don't think I'm gonna make it.... . Damn, there goes my dinner.

But really, what was the architect thinking? This truly is an atrocity.

I like the idea of several skyscrapers merged together and forming a mega-structure.
Skyscrapers don't have to look alike and comply to the current aesthetic trends.
This one has a touch of inelegance that I like. It's big, it's different.

It will certainly be appealing insofar as it is visually massive (and thus impressive), but it really doesn't contain any other kind of aesthetic value, IMO.

I liked it even with the rather shoddy original renderings, but those newer ones closed the deal. Seriously, I think it's awesome because you don't see very many supertalls that are a little bit wider rather than glassy sticks. The only two I can think about right now are the Index in Dubai and Al-Brait in Mecca(which is narstee, IMO) It's also not your daddy's international style.

I also like how you have those outsets that give it alot of character. It blends in well with the rest of the city. I don't really think it would work very well in any other city in the Americas, besides MAYBE in Rio, which is how you know something will be a landmark. I think it will be well loved someday.
