Cheyenne Transit Program had ridership of 300,000 in 2013. Wow. I checked because the most striking thing about this downtown is not just the historic aspect, but also the way it is dominated by cars. Hard to preserve or build a walkable downtown by continually adding lanes and parking. US cities really need to recognize the importance of transit and get back to funding transit again. Compare to Red Deer Transit which had a ridership 3.8 million in 2013, Medicine Hat Transit around 1.5 million, and those downtowns are much smaller, have much less history, much less to preserve and build upon. Oklahoma City (annual ridership 3.0 million in 2013) is another good example of this problem. So much unfulfilled potential in many US cities due to lack of transit.
