Major flooding in Southeast Austin. This is just across I-35 from me maybe 3 miles to the east. Onion Creek flows through that neighborhood, and it's the one that is 20 feet above its flood stage. This is near Canella and Quicksilver.

Very nice, Kevin. Thanks.

So, was that thirsty tree display on the lake or whatever a sacrifice? Because it's worked so far!

Flooding in the Arroyo Doble Drive area in South Austin. The flooding damaged/destroyed the road and bridge which was their only exit from their neighborhood.

And it's surprising how high the Colorado River rose in downtown. It actually overflowed Auditorium Shores and got pretty close to the bottom of the bridges.

Oh the irony, this is like the second flood since that drought-related art installation went up...

That and the fact that the Stevie statue has been through another Texas Flood makes for a lot of irony in one picture.

I assume it's helping the Edwards Aquifer some, but obviously is doing little for the Highland Lakes since scant rain has fallen in the watersheds.

This is reminiscent of the early '60s when we got a lot of rain that actually filled the lakes up, IIRC.

But the lack of water in the lakes isn't what's killing the trees.

There's been a confirmed drowning now in Southeast Austin along Oniion Creek. Onion Creek also crested at 40 feet today which is a new record for the creek. The old records of 38 feet were set in September of 1921 and before that in July of 1869. I saw Onion Creek today out in Del Valle and it was roaring like a river. There was major flooding just a few miles from my sister's house. They were ok, but just a couple of miles west of them areas were under 2 to 3 feet of water from overflow from the creek.

Not sure where these were taken. Somewhere in Southeast Austin I guess along Onion Creek.

These rains are more or less ending our vegetation drought, but we still have a very nasty reservoir and aquifer drought. Vegetation droughts are ugly from everything being dry and dead, but they're also a fire danger for that very reason. The reservoir and aquifer drought, though, is bad too since it means we have less water supply. If these rains had happened 50 miles to the west, the lakes would be filling.

Yes! And the sad thing is...the meteorologist predicted both the ACL Flood and Halloween Flood to occur over the Lake Travis watershed. In actuality, both of the storms occurred 40-60 miles east of their projected impact zones. I will say this, the forecasters were on-the-ball with regard to the amount of rain and direction of the storms. Again, however, they were 40-60 miles too far west with regard to where they predicted the rain to fall.

Lake Travis has lost two islands that I have noticed in the past few weeks. At least that is positive.

But the forecasters for The Austin American Statesman blew the call. They predicted the rainfall amounts wouldn't be near the totals from the prior storm. So if anyone relied on the AAS for their weather reports, they were unprepared for the deluge. I was expecting 1 to 2 inches from what they were predicting, my rain gauge read over 7 inches.
