another great thread. Loved all the houses you shot.
Will you be staying a while, or are you off soon?

Even if some people are down on LA's urban environment because of sprawl or how downtown isn't nice or something, there is an endless amount of interesting neighborhoods and street corners across the city to make up for it.

I like your thread. LA always looks like a cool atmosphere to me.
It's a religion. Banning the hajiib/burkah is like banning the Christian Bible or a menorah something. AKA It's stupid an immoral. Just because they are Islamic doesn't make them killers. Hell, how many Christians, do you think, kill in the name of religion? Thousands. Is there any difference? Yet, Christians aren't persecuted.

Oh, and since I am in the market for possibly a wider lens, I must ask, for you widest angle shots, what focal length are you using?

EDIT: And might you remember where this house is? It's so fantastic that I think I need to see it for myself.
Yeah, I had been meaning to get that house for a while. The other city I am familiar with (Buenos Aires) has tons of single-family Art-Deco residences, but in LA, they are incredibly rare. And, yes, this thread was, indeed, much more architecture-focused. Not that I am giving up people shots, but I had several neighborhoods and buildings in specific that I wanted to photograph while back home. The house in mention is located at the NW corner of New Hampshire and 2nd St. Lots of other, beautiful houses in the area, too.

Well, putting the location for 100 photos is a bit much, and is something I won't do. That said, if you wish to know the (general) location for a photo, or a group of photos, don't hesitate to ask.

Back in DC for now. I was home for my winter holidays; I will probably return sometime this summer, though. I will likely be in NYC sometime in the next month or so, too. As for the iphoneagraphy: do it!

Hey, thanks! I am a big fan of 1920's Colonial and Revival style houses, something of which LA has by the (tens of) thousands. I actually grew up in a 1927 Spanish Revival house, which partially explains my fascination with the style(s).

Great pics art decco necco grecco roman ecco the dolphin awesome.

That new Santa Monica building looks real awesome at night.

It would be cool if someone were to rework zoning codes and allow a few sidestreets to be converted to commercial retail uses. It would condense the walking experience to where you wouldn't have to be always crossing gigantic boulevards on foot.

Great pictures. I liked #47. The Colonial Revival and 70s Modern houses (and apartment buildings) were interesting to look at. By the way, I looked for that Art Deco house, and I couldn't find any intersection of 2nd & New Hampshire.

Wow!!! I love your sets and I love living in LA! Isn't picture 36 a Frank Lloyd Wright house? I do know they used this house for the outside shots for the original 1959 classic House On Haunted Hill. I went up there one day to check it out. Awesome house and an awesome set. Thanks Kingofthehill!
