Blow up the ice!!! How hard can it be? I can't believe they've allowed it to go this bad:

Nechako ice jam doubles to 11 km

Becky Rynor, Canwest News Service
Published: Friday, January 25, 2008

The Nechako River ice jam pushing its way through Prince George has doubled in length since Saturday, prompting the Red Cross to launch an emergency appeal to help residents forced out of their homes by flooding.

"There's going to be a significant financial need," said Red Cross spokeswoman Christine Finnerty.

"This is having an impact. Some people may be out of their homes for another couple of months."

at brentwood there is a little bit of snow the main roads are clear

but in coquitlam/lougheed mall area its insane - white out blizzard

I started to drive to work but had to turn around and take the skytrain

cars are all over the side of the road not able to make it up Austin road, north road i saw at least 3 accidents and a couple of cars not able to go anywhere

saw a few cars in the ditch along lougheed and one spun out in the median

i have some pics but have to wait till i get home

there must be a good 10 cm or more on the ground

there were two snow blowers out clearing the sidewalks! snow blowers!

saw a bus stuck

its the complete opposite 10 minutes away near brentwood

hopefully its heading west - hehe - its gonna be a mess if it does

It's so random that those photos were taken on the same day as these:

i know right? so weird

i got off the train at brentwood and it was like a completely different day

i called home and it snowed heavy like that for about 2 hours after i left

walking home the streets were icy and barely any cars on the road - if it snows again overnight tomorrow's commute should be fun

Tell me about it. I've got to head up the mountain pretty early and then zip to Vancouver in the evening.

Here was my shot of the day:

About half a foot on Commercial Drive Tuesday morning.
I wonder how much SFU got?

There was already about a foot yesterday before this recent dump. Here are a couple shots I took Monday morning.

Here in Comox it didn't snow very much... less than a cm... but in Courtenay it snowed more and I'm guessing Cumberland snowed a lot too... Comox almost always gets missed by the snow.

UBC's administration must surely be incompetent...they didn't cancel classes, even though almost every other institution in the region did - even Langara. My classes were more than half empty today. There's about 8cms in my neighbourhood.

Anyhow, some pics of the snow at around noon today...in and around West Point Grey and UBC:

One of the houses to the right, hidden by the trees, is Gordon Campbell's house. Now you know.

there were some pissed off students on the news wondering why as they waited two hours for a bus

they said they had probably already missed the first class and one said he was going to go home as it was pointless
