I hope you are making money with your photos, because if you're not, you should.

Thanks for posting such excellent ones here for us all to enjoy!

yeah, gee, "thanks" a lot! LOL I knew when you starting taking NY pics they would be about 1000X better than mine, but I noticed you've discovered some of the same spots in Chinatown. I love Columbus Park--open air gambling! And those sidewalk fruit & vegetable vendors. Seriously, these are excellent. As far as disappointing "tall building enthusiasts," once you've lived in NY for a while skyscrapers just seem to fade into the background--ho hum (I guess that's complete sacrilege to say on the skyscraperpage!)

awesome photos, thanks. reminds me of Gary Winogrand's work, especially this one:

i've had maybe 3-4 people get pissed off or irritated with me doing street photography in the past decade.

I was in Midtown yesterday, (we're one stop from Grand Central on the 7), getting my wife a gift for our anniversary and had my headsets on listening to the Pet Shop Boys' West End Girls and this thread came into mind! One of the best NYC people pics I've seen on here!

great set as always.

the question of photographing strangers is a good one and i think an ongoing discussion that comes down to your own feelings about it as the photographer. i used to be totally against it, but i have loosened up a lot over the years. i think as long as you display the images respectfully, as of course this thread does so well, then its fine. if someone saw themselves online, which would be funny, but if they had any problem i'd take it down immediately. other than that, personally i draw the line on homeless people and children for the most part, although i will occassionally show that too, but i limit it. no doubt other people have their own opinions about this. i also find it an interesting contrast to the ssp st.louis crew's style where they obviously ask to take pics of interesting people.
