I do agree with you that Europeans often overlook San Francisco due to its larger neighbor to the south...

NYC and LA are both strongly publicized and advertized, but san francisco is not. This is probably because the media Giants are in LA and NYC. Everyone watches TV, so this is how you end up with these results. It probably adds to the congested highways in LA too.

Yes awesome shots for sure ringil. Being a socal native I have no problem with the title of the thread because LA is the media GIANT in this country and tends to get all of the attention. Plus I believe that a city being "compact" is kind of a good thing and adds to the livabilty of said city.

Really LA and the Bay area are not that different they are both very exclusive metro areas with great weather and lots of hills/views. The Bay gets more rain which adds to the greenery and fresh air "feel" but has less sun.

San Francisco still is a highly visited city and has tons of tourists, so it obviously is not a "hidden gem".
